I have a wraith and a pbir l, the wraith being slightly better. The big difference for me is, the wraith has an led that tells you when its on. My pbir is a few years old now and doesn't have an led (although the newer ones might have).

I had an email from them, they offered to fit 'refurbished' components to rectify it.
I decided against it, it's not rocket science, just don't look into it.
It's an excellent torch.

A mate of mine purchased one directly from PBIR within the last two weeks…
Mine is about two years old I’ve had no contact at all…

No
I put the PBIR L side by side to a Solaris SRX , and the Solaris won hands down in all ways

I have written to PBIR also about what action is forthcoming from them on the PBIR-L and have heard nothing back yet. I hoping for something from them but I'm not too positive.

I wouldn't look into a led it illuminator either.
Combined with the c50 the L gives a superb image...
