THE PRETEND KEEPER

Looks like it's got a baldy back ?
I’ve just had another look before I put the camera back out and you could be right, it’s not bald but looks like it could of had it at the top of its tail, my mate who has the farm with the plantation next to it said his keeper shot one a couple of nights ago that was paint marked, this is the third one over the past couple of years so it looks like the fox rescue are releasing them in the wood, he’s not happy

Missus got a phone call from one of her work colleagues, in tears, ( man trouble) I heard them words from her indoors, come round 😬 grabbed the 22 and I’m now stud in the rain waiting for rabbits to pop out, home is no place for me at the minute IMG_7593.webp

Well almost 3 hours sat out in the rain in some posh bints garden, seen 2 rabbits, shot 2 rabbits before I was informed that it was now safe to return to the premises, some might think this was a waste of time but I don’t mind the rain and kind of like being on my own, what am I saying “ kind of “ I love being on my own 😁👍

With the birds due in the next few weeks it has been a very busy time.
Redoing fox wires. Constantly strimming.
The fencers are both on now.
squirrel feeders are working with numbers being reduced
All ibc are full waiting to be connected.
Fox control is in full swing with still more young appearing .
Next week's job is a lean to off shipping container IMG-20230713-WA0006.webp

Right, I’ve made a start, my birds are due in a little under 3 weeks so I need to pull my finger out, today I tackled the forestry pen, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been there, maybe since I showed the nice chap off here around and it wasn’t in the best of condition then, a few weeks later and it had gotten worse, there’s clearly been deer running through the fence, I repaired 9 posts, both gates and got through 250 of the keepers best friend, the cable tie, also repaired the electric fence and cut back so branches that had fallen on the fence, just the IBC to fill on this pen and test the drinkers, the next pen ( Gordon’s) doesn’t need anywhere near as much work as Forestry, little bit of fence repair and make a new shelter as the old one has finally given up, on another brighter note forestry have cut all the rides around my drives, I’ve been asking for this for the last few seasons and they have finally done it, I just want the weather to change now so the combines can start, they have only managed one field of barley over the far side, I really don’t want my birds in while there’s still standing cropIMG_7741.webpIMG_7738.webpIMG_7739.webpIMG_7737.webpIMG_7742.webp
