Hi
Does anyone have any of these for sale please? Experienced with spaniels and labs but new to GWPs.
Please PM me.
Thank you

Do you have any particular in mind matey.
Jimmy
From what I’ve read so far then the books by Guy Wallace and DVDs of Tom Brechney look very useful. I didn’t state these in the first post because I didn’t want to narrow the request too much. I’m not planning to get a puppy until the new year so wanted to do some prep reading and viewing before hand.

You could try Tollerholme gun dogs on facebook, she works a few and trains them, based near Harrogate.
Thanks. I’m not planning to get a puppy until the new year so wanted to do some prep reading and viewing before hand. I‘ll keep this kennel name for later if I need it.

OK I've a spare copy of Tommy's "basic" dvd a 4 dvd set of Rory majors, then in books I've Michael Branders, training the pointer-retriever gundog.
Let me know when you're next passing and we can have a natter matey.
Jimmy.

Would seriously recommend looking at Paul Michael’s Deer Dog guidance, even if you only subscribe for a month or two. He has a world of experience, made big mistakes and learnt from them so you don’t have to.

Have to say I used to love watching him on YouTube, however he "like Josh James" got way to commercial for me.

Largely agree, if you buy the lot outright, I got them much earlier on when it was cheaper and there are absolute gems of wisdom and techniques in there. However I would now subscribe for a month at 27$ or two months ($NZ is less than 50p so a month would be £13) and Binge watch the lot, it’s better than anything on Netflix or Prime.

Maybe a bit pricey but I wouldn’t deny anyone making a success or living from their skills and talent and think there are few who have nailed it as well as he has and have the ability to communicate that as well as he does. He’s a dog whisperer guru 😀

Rory Major knows the breed well from the very worst nasty ones through the Numerologically defective into those that only want to be pets .
I gained a lot of help with my Monster GWP and spent a good bit of cash with him . In the end he was euthanised and its thought to have been neurological issues . Dont really want to visit that breed again , i will never have another and know of others with similar feelings and experiances .
But Rory is the man to listen to , he told me he stopped doing breed club rescue / rehab from the amount that couldn't be safely fixed. I very nearly sorted mine with his help until one fateful day he walked towards me stiff legged, eyes red and tried to tear my neck open .
This does not mean there are not some good ones I have mates with some . That said last summer my very socialised old lab was attacked on a shoot , the owner ( he might read this ) was maybe at fault for that one as there wasn't even an apology. Nor do i remember him putting it on a lead

Thank you very much for sharing that Bowland, a real strength of this forum is its honesty and sharing experiences good and bad. I think up to about fifty years ago and probably still happens a bit now, dogs that had big problems or wouldn’t work were taken out back and shot. Any negative traits and duds in a litter were gone. With the money on pure breeds now and social attitudes there’s probably a fair few dogs about that wouldn’t be. Appreciate your honesty.
