United Utilities ban on shooting & BASC wade in

As some of you may be aware UU ( water for the NW) are revoking all shooting leases on their land. BASC have quickly taken this onboard and stepped in to hopefully overturn this.

I know ther are alot of 'knockers' of BASC on here. However I think this demonstartes the efectiveness of a major organisation getting this infront of the UU CEO. I think that if UU get away with this, then other water authorities will follow!

We all knock them at times but yes they do some great things also but on major issues all these so called gun sites should join forces.

If only wouldn't we have some power

blimey, all of the standard responders to anything mentioning BASC have not yet responded.... probably checking to see if its covered under their SACS insurance ;)

all joking aside, I am glad that they have taken the initiative in challenging this

Anyone living within united utilities area should either send an email or use the basc reply i have just had a reply from uu stating that all leases not just grouse moors will be terminated at the end of lease as they are going to take all land management in house as they cant manage what they have now god knows what will happen to the land other than it will end up as trees for carbon capture

Anyone who loves the countryside - waders - wildlife - and not being discriminated against should send an email - not the BASC one - but a personal one

I believe that its already proven that heather peatland captures way more carbon than trees.

Arses think a deft bit of "greenwashing" with an anti-shooting virtue-signal will clean up their image.
Sad thing is it probably will given the simpleton state of the sheep-like masses.

Years ago we had a Keeper that used to come our way to beat on a local shoot. He was a Keeper on United Utilities land. This fella was old school. At the morning briefing our Keeper explained the plan for the day.Little did our Keeper know that when giving the briefing he named one of the guns as being the top dog at United Utilities, not knowing that the United Utilities Keeper had been given his job notice. To see this old school Keeper walk up to the group of guns and giving the top dog the full Anglo Saxon comments was priceless. Then the old school Keeper got in his vehicle and went home to his tied cottage which he lost as well.

Well that would be a big mistake ! Wet peat moor is the waaaay better solution to carbon , planting pines dries the moor out increases fires and severity of the fires as the peat dries out . I do live in such an area and the biggest issue here is UU plainly asked the question because they want to fill the wet peat moors with wind turbines for the cash not keep wet peat moor for its carbon capture and storage !
Headlines today all about hen harriers it seems , comming at us from all angles - EVEN THOUGH here in Bowland we have very good numbers but only on wet open peat moor preferably ones that aint full of wind turbines - that kill lots of birds all over the globe , yet not here ? Rubbish smoke and mirrors for UU to get what it really wants ( MORE MONEY FOR ITS INVESTERS AND STUFF THE NATURE THAT WE SHOOTERS CREATE THE VERY BEST HOME FOR THE HARRIER , CERLEW etc etc )
Hidden agenda is UU are working for share holders , whilst we are working with nature !
