Well that would be a big mistake ! Wet peat moor is the waaaay better solution to carbon , planting pines dries the moor out increases fires and severity of the fires as the peat dries out . I do live in such an area and the biggest issue here is UU plainly asked the question because they want to fill the wet peat moors with wind turbines for the cash not keep wet peat moor for its carbon capture and storage !
Headlines today all about hen harriers it seems , comming at us from all angles - EVEN THOUGH here in Bowland we have very good numbers but only on wet open peat moor preferably ones that aint full of wind turbines - that kill lots of birds all over the globe , yet not here ? Rubbish smoke and mirrors for UU to get what it really wants ( MORE MONEY FOR ITS INVESTERS AND STUFF THE NATURE THAT WE SHOOTERS CREATE THE VERY BEST HOME FOR THE HARRIER , CERLEW etc etc )
Hidden agenda is UU are working for share holders , whilst we are working with nature !

I mean they way prefer shooting ground and all this persecution thing is one big red herring by the RSPB who do phenomenally Rubbish with them on their ground. not being funny we have nests into the teens and twenties of Hen Harrier where they sometimes get one - Well that's frankly bound to happen, but do the young fledge ? Nope ! too many stoats , rats , crows etc on their ground and no heather mowing or cold burning . Its the same with other raptors as every keeper knows when you feed pheasant etc you get lots of small birds, rabbits and yeah rats we ! Basically things other raptors like Buzzard , Gos etc etc like
Remember UU are only looking at profit as they have shareholders to look after ( ignore the smoke and mirrors , PR stunts ) They do some terrific amounts of damage to these uplands and any tint chance they have of bamboooziling the Public with diversions like game shooting they are ready to take it ! Presently its about Water the wind turbine con. Wait on though because they will be held to account when the shooting is stopped and the wildlife disappears . Unlike the RSPB who gain funds from failure they will likely have to blame UU if we are gone eh? Because the shoots will demonstrate the decline from what they had and what UU created , Too late then though...... for us and the upland Biodiversity !
