Are Passarounds a Thing Here?

Years ago when I was on the British Blades forum passarounds were quite popular, a list of forum members and an item passed around them so each can take a look.

First things first the forum itself is not responsible for anything and each participant would need to prove they are of suitable age, if the item is a knife.

There are rules (lots of rules) and requirements met, number of posts for the member/time being a member of the forum, amount of time each gets the item, each has to give their opinion of the item, preferably after using it, no 'thanks for that' then moving on... etc, etc, etc...

The rules go on and on, but they can all be drawn up and agreed beforehand.

Now in my experience these things seldom go like clockwork, if you want to stop a member posting, put them on a passaround and get the item to them, they'll go dark 🤣

The problem we have these days is getting the item, a knife I am proposing, from member to member, posting is a PITA, but what if we knew each other, or at least the member who currently had the knife knew the member who was about to get it, so on, so forth, pass it on in person..?

If you join in you have to commit to being happy to drive a few miles to pass it on maybe?

I'll donate two knives, a Portland120 and a Portland90, we can start one from one end of a possible circuit and one from the other, so everyone gets a look and a use of both of they like?

It'll take a while but I wonder how far around the country we could get them?

I bet it'll be fun along the way.

Thoughts please.

The JAK system is hard to improve on in that there is accountability on who exactly has the knife from one date to another and there are photograhic proof and postal records to verify it.

I like the idea. Presume youve seen john gryphons JAK thread ?
I just caught up with that, yes, like that.

Yes, agreed.
So a bit like swapshop. I’ve got an action man with one leg and I’d like to swap it for a Sako TRG M10 please Noel
Nope, nothing like Swap Shop  . It is the same two knives passed from hand to hand around a circuit in different directions, maybe :)
Interested, which leg is missing?
Third!

I would be interested for the right products. No point in sending me a knife now as I have finally figured what is my nearly perfect knife.
As per my first post, the reason I ask is that I am suggesting two knives, a Portland120 and a Portland90.

Obviously anyone can arrange one for anything they like, the one I am suggesting organising though is that specific.

I have to know more about your perfect knife though, please...

I will drop you a message With the why I think it is almost perfect. And the model detail. I was surprised myself.

Sounds like a good idea I am 19 miles away from Stuarts workshop I have been three or four times so could collect a knife. And the syndicate I shoot with are from a good 150 mile radius I also travel around to shoot with friends in Norfolk and Bedfordshire. If this would help.

Looks like we might have found our starting point.

I'm happy for this to remain quite flexible, rather than a hard and fast list, maybe whoever currently has it at any particular time uses it for a week or so, post their thoughts with a 'I'm in *insert where they are here* who's close by and wants it next?' type thing.
