I do agree with Bruce though in the respect that the Alpex is a bargain for what you get included at it’s price point , it also produces great footage and sound , it’s a quality allround scope .

Like I say it’s very hard to choose between them all, as they all offer something over the others .. a lot just purely boils down to personal choice ..

I tested a C50 back in April and I have had an Alpex on test for the last few weeks.
In this thread alone, I have twice stated that the C50 is better than the Alpex - it's simply a matter what value any given individual puts on that difference.
The two biggest negatives for the C50 compared to the Alpex are it's price and availability.
You are perfectly entitled to your opinion on the C50 but you are not entitled to your own facts, and the fact is that a C50 with wifi and IR has an RRP £440 more than an Alpex with wifi and IR
To say that the price difference of £440 is over the top is also wrong
I just checked the prices of the HIK Alpex and I can buy one with wifi and IR for £720 from Blackwood Outdoors Stainless Steel Mixed Media, Ball Cone, Dish Cone, Ball Shot, Cross Pin J1408a | eBay
There are no new C50s with wifi and with/without IR available in the UK - and that situation is unlikely to change any time soon.
The best price I can find for a non wifi, non IR C50 is £850 Pulsar Digex C50
So, for £130 more I get a scope that can't be updated and for which I need to buy a suitable IR
Yes, I know many people who have previously owned NV gear will have an IR lying around, but many people are buying NV kit for the first time and they would have to shell out for an IR.
Also, those people are unlikely to have the intimate knowledge of the different types of digital day/night scopes currently available and given the choice of a scope that comes with wifi and an IR or a scope that doesn't have wifi or an IR, but costs £130 more - most people will go with the Alpex and never know, or care that the C50 is a wee bit better

My use of the Pard DS35 in the last month puts the DS35 ahead. It has built in IR and LRF ballistic calculator. Its also very light and uses 18650 battery for the lot.

You could be waiting a long time . That’s if we ever see a WIFI Digex model again .

Although the C50 works great and to be honest it’s stable and does not require an update . Also if you need downloads of video you can connect the USB C to transfer .

I was speaking to Simon6PPC off YouTube and his opinion of the C50 after directly running alongside an Alpex for period was that the C50 provided a sharper and more detailed image than the Alpex on distances past 150yds …

For me I really do like them all, and I think they all individually excel with certain features over the others. ,

Ian has a much better handle on the Pulsar supply chain than me so, if he says the wifi version of the C50 might not re-appear, then I'd plan accordingly.

I am tracking this debate about C50, Alpex and now also Pard Ds35.
From your posts I can see that C50 is best build, Alpex best value for the money and Ds35 the lightest one with balistic calculator for those who need one.
But we are in kind of funny situation here.
Our retailer is selling C50 non wifi wersion for 950€+150€ for optional illuminator. Plenty of items in stock.
On the other hand Alpex is 999€ and Ds35 is 1019€.
So we can get somehow best product for lowest price between them.

The non availability of the wifi versions of the C50 is interesting since none of the other day/night scopes with wifi (Alpex, PARD, ATN, Sightmark) seem to be having a problem with availability - as is the case with other Pulsar products that have wifi
In most electronics, wifi is a simple a plug in hardware module so it seems strange that all those other NV and thermals with wifi do not appear to be having supply issues, but a single Pulsar product is - strange

Regarding the C50 and updates, dont put the Pulsar in the same bucket as the other manufacturers Pulsar have been doing this a long time compared to the others, as Ian has said the C50 is done and dusted software wise, it doesnt need any updates because it just works. Don’t forget this is the next progression from the Digex n450 with the same menu systems etc so a few tweaks here and there and you have a polished, proven operating system within the C50. This is demonstrated by the lack of issues, go on any forum/FB page and find a problem related to software, there arent any, like i say the scope just works and people on the C50 groups are just getting on with shooting stuff rather than trying to work out why their scope keeps freezing or cant keep zero.
Compare that to all the others, constant updates, the Iray TD50 has them, the Alpex has them and dont even go there with Pard!! 4 or 5 different versions of the 008 and up to now they still haven’t turned out a dedicated NV scipe that didnt need updating to fix issues. If you look at Giles review on Youtube the new DS already has an issue with the ballistic aim point not showing in the correct position on playback when zoomed in so get your SD cards ready for that one.
BTW im not a brand whore, i still use Pards as well as Pulsar!!

Yes.
The price of the Alpex has just been reduced making it an even better buy
Th Alpex without IR (A50T-S) is now down to £550
The Alpex with IR (A50T) is now down to £650
The C50 without IR and wifi is still £950

I've been using the Pard DS35 with the 940nm IR. For my needs both day and evening I've found it to be extremely good. Has big eye relief, standard 18650 battery, 400m range with inbuilt IR and the circular screen looks like a scope with the cross hair in centre.

I've looked at the TD50 and C50. Great scopes but with no inbuilt IR and LRF they are essential features for me which gives the edge to the PARD.

So my reason for asking is....,
I have a pard 008 which I was/am sharing between a 22lr and a 204 but getting fed up of re-zeroing and faffing about.

I'm tempted to permanently home the 008 on the 22lr for rats and rabbits etc. so the question then is which is the best option for foxing on a 204, max distance 250m biased towards dark rather than daytime use?

Anyone want to do me a deal in px for my Swarovski bins for sale on this forum?

I'm not sure that a fox at 250m would be a very good target to aim at
You might be better putting the 008 on your 204 simply because the 008 has double the base magnification of the Alpex so, at 250m, a fox will be a clearer target with the PARD compared to the Alpex
Also, the Alpex on a 22 rimfire is an excellent combination - the lower magnification and wider field of view of the scope helps with closer targets.

Thank you Bruce for those pointers, and an interesting slant going the opposite way to what I was thinking.

So what WOULD be a good significant step up from a 008 running on a 204?
Budget isn't unlimited but I'd rather spend more if necessary than end up with two units of similar abilities. A range of 250 was only put out there as a maximum for discussion, most shots would be around the100 to 200m mark.

If you were getting one for free it would have to be the c50 but because you are paying you will have to decide if the £400 extra is worth it.
