whats peoples thoughts on theses scopes please, just found a new one from a shop for £799 free postage, where other places are selling for £1200-£1300,and i was half thinking of buying a second hand one 4-16x44 on here, but at that money new if there any cop then id be daft not to surly,
thanks,

lee

It‘s as good as any scope of the same specs made in the Philippines. Don‘t expect any miracles. Depending on your intended use you‘d be better advised to cut down on the max. magnification and better step up to a V6. A whole different world.

good evening , i have two of these scopes ,i no longer stalk but do shoot long range target and from my point of view they are excellent scopes ,i shoot to 1000 yards and they have ample adjustment from my 100 yard zero out to 1000 yards on my 6.5x55 and 243. i have more expensive scopes but these are beat those for the money.

Your best bet is to give McLeods a phone call tomorrow, very knowledgeable and helpful, customer service as it should be.

I have 2 of them . One on my T1X 22 lr and the other on my 204.
They are made in Japan.
They are good scopes for the money.
Glass is not as good as the German made models but it's good enough with a good field of view.
I would diall the turrets a fair bit on my 22 and tracking is excellent

cheers mate, but i have to think to myself, this at £650 or £150 more for a brand new one, to go second hand id have to be looking at £550 posted,

or would i be better off with this :D

why suboptimal for stalking?
Too long, obstructive target turrets, too high mag and parallax adjustment.
Non of the above are favorable features for a stalking scope. Less is more on a stalking scope.
Unless you regularly shoot your deer beyond 300 meters. But this qualifies as target shooting in my eyes.

I’ve got one which came with my rifle. For the money, I can’t really see what else you would get with the same features. I find it really well made, solid, I like the max zoom as it helps identifying deer which are a bit further away before stalking in.

Negatives- the low light performance is really quite average (the IR helps), a fixed mag S&B classic has far better clarity to my eye, but you won’t get a S&B with zoom, IR, SF etc for anywhere near the same money, so it’s all compromise.
