Do you have the knowledge, experience and drive required to shape BASC’s future direction? Nominations are now sought for two national Council seats coming up for election in 2024.

Regardless of background or length of membership, BASC’s Council needs motivated and capable people. Your skills and experience may make you the ideal candidate. Now is the time to step off the sidelines and stand for one of the most demanding but fulfilling roles in the sector.

Prospective Council members must be ready to:

  • develop and own BASC’s strategy;
  • hold BASC to account for delivering against the strategy;
  • ensure resources and policies align to enable BASC to execute strategy effectively;
  • exercise clear judgement and accept real responsibility;
  • make tough but impactful decisions critical to the future of shooting and conservation;
  • demonstrate integrity and teamwork, always.

BASC Council Elections - BASC

It is interesting, but perhaps no surprise, that the vocal minority of BASC bashers fall silent when these opportunities to get involved are posted.
Why on earth would you want to get involved with an organisation that's not fit for purpose.
Out of touch with what their members want.

I think its interesting that when people dont BASC bash immediately , you complain about it :D
And then you get the 'vocal minority' , who on this thread so far appear to be the 100~% majority , giving you some stick !
You make a rod for your own back Conor.

You are entitled to your opinion, even if the facts show otherwise, but if you really believe what you write why do you continue to comment on BASC threads. Perhaps you have views on other organisations? Which organisation are you a member of? Post about them instead?

The organisations that I am involved with don't come on this forum wanting support for their agenda's eg support ongoing lead free etc. If you have been reading my posts you will know that I used to be a member of BASC. But I stand by what I said earlier it is not fit for purpose now.

Perhaps you could ask the organisations you are involved with to come on to this forum? Which organisations are you involved with?

Post #16 from our very own CSL
AGM 2010 .............. still no online interaction beyond posting on here?
This is not a Bash, this is an M&S Non Bash.

The knockers, myself included look at the overall performance of the organisation and the employees that seem never to acknowledge any faults. What I and others want to see are wins in the big issues and I can't ever recall one. It is always a managed retreat. Where are the improvements in licensing, GL's, insurance, HSE etc. All I see is promotion of the org to get more members or to increase training revenue and very little else.

The "voice" is always one step behind. I would dearly love to support BASC but I feel my fees over the years have been wasted. The "fighting fund" was pushed the other day on the BASC mailshot, just perhaps it might actually be used. This time it was look at us we have some money for fighting legal actions as we took away Legal Expenses. Please get a grip, the shooting world has real problems.

The HSE consultation on lead, and prior to that the voluntary transition, has become divisive within the shooting community and quite rightly shooters are worried. As someone involved in ALL (yes I'm shouting) areas of game and target shooting BASC has fuelled that division. I think that BASC really didn't understand the consequences and continues to work in a naive and unproductive way.

If anyone wishes to say it's just talking from the sidelines, I do get involved, I help run four shooting clubs catering for all types of firearms.
