I'll often remove the bolt and look for damp.
I'll often leave the rifle by the warm chimney breast for a few hours. If in doubt I just run a loose patch through but a chemical clean I don't do very often.
With your hornet you should take more care!
Water vapour is a by product of combustion believe it or not.
Most high power rifles generate enough heat to the barrel surface that the vapour never gets to condense on the barrel inside.
Hornet though doesn't get the steel hot enough!
I have lost count of the times how many beads of water I have seen just forward of the hornet chamber after a shot on a cold day! And I've lost count of how many hornets I've seen with pits just forward of the chamber on a hornet!!
Run a loose patch through the hornet after every outing or use a loose pull through. You probably could spray something from the breech and store the rifle muzzle down on a rag.
Oh, and remove the can every time or better still, never use it!
