this Saturday was our 3rd shoot on our small pheasant shoot.after the rain,the maize men,the spud men,then more rain we are drowning.
first drive of the day " the willows" is an old drying bed from a long gone salt works was 2ft deep and impassable.
next was " the river bank" up to the top and over so a no go.
we have 3 free 5 acre "game crops " which are the rush beds from the old sewage works.
these are great when it's dry as the ground is so fertile,once found a German fighter pilot who had been lost in there since 1944 😆.
all completely flooded 😩.
so we muddled through ( no pun intended) and ended up with a small bag of 23.IMG_20231118_105942.webpIMG_20231104_111807.webp
still we had a good day out.
to top it off when I got home the wife says " did you have a good day out on our 34th wedding anniversary" oh fcuk🤯.
best get my eating pants on and take her to the local ping pong buffet 😆.IMG_20231118_105300.webp
 
so the shoot being flooded does have its advantages.
must be 1000 geese and ducks on the left in spuds and maize.its a bi hard to find a spot that's not a mud pit,all my foxhole hides are full up😩.
I managed these 4 and the lads took another 8 further down the field.i don't care what anyone says Steel doesn't kill aswell as lead,still it gave the lads a treat watching me chaseing wounded birds on a crutch in the mud trying to shoot them😆.
today I shall be breasting geese " mostly".

can it get any worse?. after 3 months of nearly continued rain and most of the shoot waterlogged the river backed up the drainage ditches on to the rest of the shoot.heres some pictures of my game crops and woods in the background.shooting on Saturday,best bring my rubber ring 😆IMG_20240104_150836.webpIMG_20240104_144955.webp
