Boots for very wide feet?

I have Extra Extra Wide Feet, width H or G. Do you know who makes boots for such wide feet?
Altberg make boots on wide last, their widest last is just a bit smaller than what I want, but I can wear them up and they can widen them too, so can fix the issue
Do you know other manufacturers and their models?

My father used to advocate putting a blob of butter on your sock at the point where shoe/boots were rubbing, to soften up the leather at that point.

Altberg do extra extra wide range of boots. Try to find a specialist supplier that offer a proper fitting service. They will spend time measuring your feet properly.

This is what I did - they measured my feet and realised that my feet are wider than the Altberg's lasts. Also called Altberg to discuss what is the best way forward - they can slightly stretch in the shop for me (feels like I only need to stretch half a size for a perfect fit), but this means a custom order, so cannot be returned

a number of manufacturers do certain models in wider fitting... often the civilian version of a military issue boot. eg Low Mountain GTX. but most shops do not stock them so have to get them in for you.
Altbergs used to do a 'leder gris' product for softening leather so that it stretched more... cannot see it on their website now, although they have increased the range, so may have renamed it.

I use the extra wide fit alt berg and start with thin socks to stretch them a little bit before I can wear proper socks.

Do you need a technical boot?

The only truly natural foot shaped boots I've ever found and bought are a pair of Bearfoot Bruins from the USA. 100% comfortable as they are actually shaped like a foot and not some fashion accessory.

I've had a pair of Belleville Minimil tactical boots for work and they were the next best thing but the heel has some design flaws that aren't the most comfortable.

Neither of these boots are marketed as waterproof so that may cause you an issue but if that's the case then a pair of Kamik Altbergs or Demar Caribous are plenty wide and will cope with ankle deep water.

I'm still amazed that shoe manufacturers, especially those who make technical or sporting footwear are so far removed from what a foot looks like and how a shoe should work and instead just make stuff they think looks good.

I have a wide fit to start with , and a bunion on my right foot that makes finding a good boot difficult. Meindl Guffert are a wide last, but more importantly a wide toebox, and I'm now on my third pair.

There's an outdoor shop in Clitheroe, Whalley Warm and Dry where you can have a fitting appointment. They stock Meindl and Altberg boots amongst others. I called in on spec and the guy there steamed and stretched the right boot specifically to fit around the bunion.

It would be worth returning to your stockist who will measure and fit you properly. Forget any thoughts of saving a few quid through online bargains, well-fitting boots are absolutely crucial.

When my feet were measured Altberg said they would have to make a last specially wide and wanted almost £1000 for the first pair. I have never found a wide pair of boots to buy< Lundhag said they would make some but it would be payment without return and I think they would be quite heavy. 6E seems to be an issue with working boots but there are normal shoe options.

Bloody expensive but I remember Belise Junior Officer's Command Course in ill fitting boots and mincing around on Breckon with 3/4 shank new Scarpa boots (that didn't go well either)

I spoke to Altberg - as I understood, they won't make lasts for me (they do not do bespoke), their "custom" service is made-to-order , i.e. they find the most suitable lasts for me in the stock (In my case, it will be Fremington lasts in their widest size 7, I think it is 7G) and order boots (I think in Italy). It works great for people with one foot longer or significantly wider than the other as you can mix different lasts. However, little play with instep (luckily, I do not have this problem as it is the most difficult to correct). I am now waiting for a call from Altberg - I asked if they can then widen up the lasts to size 7.5, so they fit better. If this won't work, then I will have to stretch at home or in local shoe shop
I previously made myself bespoke and made-to-order office shoes - master chose lasts from his stock based on my feet for made-to-order shoes, and I had to travel to Springline to order myself lasts that took more than 1 year to make and then about 8 months for shoes to be made (the master in Springline told me that Springline makes lasts for nearly all top brands in Europe and nearly all brands in the UK, with exception of John Lobbs who make their own lasts). This was around 10 years ago - made-to-order were about £500, bespoke were easily about £1k. I do not expect Altberg making bespoke boots for £300

Like another poster, I have wide feet at the toes plus a bunion on one foot. Bestard are the best I have found. I got them from sportpursuit.com for 50% off too. Found them slightly wider than hanwags.
