Bog deathgrip

well, its certainly steady, till i get hold of it, must be me doing something wrong maybe, got on my first rabbit at 116y with the HMR but it was probably 20 seconds till i felt like i was steady enough to take the shot, prone on a bipod and it would of been 3 seconds, nice to use though, and as people have said about them and the bog death grip being very heavy, i guess they are, if your a GIRL

That was my first thought when I used a friend's Bog tripod, but I had only used Quad sticks and Bipods up until then, both very solid shooting platforms. I didn't take a 200 yard shot on a fox, I let him take it, I just didn't feel comfortable at all. I'm sure you will love it. my chum raves about his.

Once you get comfortable with your technique 116 yard shots will be bread and butter. Like anything new it takes practice.

I had a pig saddle tripod setup in the past and it was a heavy lump at the end of a lightweight tripod. So switched over to arca with a small plate on the rifle it's quick and easy connection and lighter on the tripod top. Quick release arca ontop is a great connection system.

Thinking about the arca system myself. The saddle on the vanguard can be screwed off and a quick release plate can be fitted. Any recommendations on what arca plate to buy ?
My rifles have krg bravo stocks so I can fit arca rails to them.

I chose a Sunwayfoto mlok arca rail myself, not sure on the krg bravo fitting options?? You could try Black Rifles, they manufacture their own rails and are good to go! Pete's a good lad and on here as Major Disorder I believe? Failing that the sunwayfoto rail is available on amazon mate

With Arca you ideally need longer section, so you can slide the rifle forward and aft in the mount, depending on situation. I've only used Manfrotto QD plates, and found them not suitable for field conditions.

Which leads to next point, experiment shooting while supporting the rifle from different points on the clamp. The placement in your pics will result in maximum muzzle movement per any body movement.

Regarding versatility of tripod vs. quad sticks, tripod with clamp is clearly more versatile. Quad sticks obviously more stable, when deployed properly. Personally I clamp the rifle on tripod only when I want hands free (usually sitting on ambush). Otherwise just keep the clamp open and use as front rest. I also find shooting to be more stable when rifle is supported as far forward as possible.

Might need to go for proper clamp at some point. Now using 3D printed ones and light carbon tripod. Sold the Deathgrip (clamp only) since it didn't provide "added value", and is also noisy when not tightened in either end of travel. Nice thing is "double speed" since both sides of clamp move simultaneously.

Quad sticks with an airgun shooting small targets on foot... Tripods are heavier, not as stable, plus cumbersome when walking and take longer to deploy..

Quads offer so much more, IMO and a set of B&Q garden canes are more than suitable for less than £20...

Tripods are great for a static one position area like when waiting on a fox, that can come from any angle... there not quick for repetitive deployment and stability.

Ehh... just carry the tripod open, with a flick of a hand it's ready for shooting and stays erect on it's own.

Not going to teach you suck any more eggs, but it often seems people are not giving fair comparison to different options.

Tripod is also not very good for static ambush where you expect quarry from any direction. Dancing around the tripod if standing, and worse yet if seated. There are better options like stool and sitting height bipod, or Chairpod if no long carry is involved.

Done it, everyone who I know uses quads as you can travel lighter, deploy quicker and it's more stable for accurate long range shooting.. I'm shooting 100-200+ rabbits a night, honest I'd wrap a tripod around a tree carrying that about and deploying every shot ...

I have tripods, I never use them, maybe a handful of times, like I say in static position, ok....although great if your shooting running game though...

Whatever floats your boats.. Now rat shooting I use a tripod, but a Primos as it allows for fast height adjustment also for under gates and machinery, etc, a standard tripod again is too slow for height adjustment..

Does anyone have any links to an easy to use camera tripod and clamp?
Or like a shopping list?
I’ve got cheap quad sticks but I have a few places where a tripod system would work well for me
Regards Dan
