New dog bed - burst in 7 minutes...any recommendations?

As the zip on the bean bag had given up after 3 years i thought i'd go crazy and buy the boys a new bed. Since i was getting a tyre at KwikRob i went browsing in Pets at Home.
Found what i wanted (Tweed, Oval bed, XL) that should fit two teckels.

I got it home, put it down on the floor and proceeded to drink a cup of coffee with my good lady wife. Upon looking back the stuffingIMG_20231211_170735_802.webp is already out of the padding from a decent hole.

Now he wasn't ragging it and just adjusting it to get comfy - lacking the opposable thumbs he used his mouth.

Took it back to the store and no refund as 'it wasn't damaged when it left the store'...no further argument entertained. I did suggest that perhaps it wasn't fit for purpose...

Mailed PaH customer services and they said take it up with the store - nothing we can do.


So long story short, PaH branded bedding is shite and once they have your money you can go and reproduce. Spread the word.



Can't say i'll be returning soon.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent brand of bed?

I buy these now exclusively as it's the only bed that's never been chewed up by 3 different dogs. I throw one or two pieces of vet bedding on it and then wash them in the machine once a week and this gets wiped down. It's properly waterproof, not that cheap nylon canvas stuff that falls apart in a few months. As it's properly waterproof you can hose it down if needed and it doesn't smell as doesn't hold any scent on it, especially after a spray and wipe down.
 
We just use a cheap padded bed and a roll of Vet-bed over the top, the Vet-bed is washable and depending on how the padded bed goes its either washed or recycled (binned)
 
There are ways but its not worth your effort and time . Fit for purpose includes "reasonable" durability you would win pretty much certain but as i say not worth the time . Daft store manager or are they about to walk anyhow ?
I wont use them full stop they have a terrible reputation
 
My current tuffie is 10years old and hardly looks used. Just ordered a second last week for my new dog, as now there taking it in turns to use it but won't share!! You won't be disappointed!!
 
My two boys - the pup has had the same bed which he loves since we got him, the other one 🙁 Christ almighty he is a wrecker, I went to a indestructible dog manufacturer who I know and asked them to make a indestructible bed for a teckle £85 later and 3 days it’s ripped to shreds just like all the others 🥹

so 1/2 inch plywood with a double duvet cut to fit stapled to it from underneath then a soft industrial floor mat with the 50 mm rubber edge laid over it and stapled down with all the edges underneath taped and sealed, had to dismantle his cage to get it in. - 3 months in now and he loves it he sinks into it and hasn’t taken one bit off it, I’m hoping this is it 🙏

good luck in your search but I’ve thrown some hard earned at it but hopefully sorted with some stuff from the mancave
 
I cut up a couple of garage floor mats to fit my 9 month olds crate then an old blanket on top of the mats then vet bed on top of that, seems to be working, he sleeps solidly on that and apart from the odd bit of carrying the vet bed triumphantly when greeting me in the morning he’s fine .

Unless you have one like my bitch, lasts 3-4 days (scratches through it) so she is back to straw while the two dogs have had them for 2 years with no problems
