Anyone using this gear ?
Seen a guy at the beating with it and it looked good. He loved it so I had a look online tonight.

Incredibly expensive throughout their full range with nothing being in the wallet friendly range.

So who uses it ? How tough is it , does it work (like an £600 jacket should work ) ?
And is it worth it ?

I have kuiu yukon coat , kutana trousers. Also a guide dcs softshell.
The Yukon and kutana work as they should. They keep me dry and they're well thought out. I wouldn't call them beating waterproofs though if you're talking thorns, barbed wire etc.
I wear them on the grouse and they're good for that , in fact ideal.
The guide is just a softshell so other than saying it's well made there's not a lot to add really.
Price ? Well price is all relative isn't it. Personally I think it's over priced , but you do get a good product for the money.

Ive got a few jackets and trousers and rate their stuff highly, I have the Yukon jacket and trousers which is the waterproof range and rate it highly, I also have Guide trousers and jacket which I don't really rate but others do, and I also have the Axis hybrid jacket and a couple of pair of Axis trousers which I rate highly, I wear it all for foxing and stalking and upto now seems to be hard wearing

Good gear, but very expensive.
Kuiu normally has a couple of sales every year, so if there’s anything your after, it’s an opportunity to take.
Shipping from the States is generally around £16 and orders take around 3 weeks typically to arrive.

Kuiu seems to be fast turning into one of those companies you’d be a bit daft to buy from unless on sale. They regularly discount a large amount of lines by 30-50%. I have some gear from them that I’m very happy with. However I also have some Sitka and the Sitka is definitely better. Sadly they are just as expensive and in the U.K., never seem to have sales.

I had a jacket for Xmas. It's very nice stuff. Not as big sizing as you'd think. It's like posh walking clothes for hunting really.
I would not use it for beating. I don't think it would take the brambles at all.
Defo wait for sales as it can save a lot of money.

As said expensive. I find you need to size up but comfortable as hell. Agree not for rough stuff but on the hill lovely as it tends to dry quickly. And definitely wait for the sales

Heard good things about Sitka clothing but I don't own any of there stuff, Weird how the same person started both companies but tragic the poor guy is no longer with us.
Anyway I think my Kuiu gear will see me out for the rest of my days,

Okey doke, thanks guys
Sounds like it would be easier using a UK company like Berghaus if you’re spending that sort of money.

Have you tried the keela mtp stuff? They do a shell type waterproof that are good , not kuiu money either. If it's absolutely hossing down and I'm not going near anything thorny I usually reach for a ME Lhotse . The most waterproof shell I've ever used but not available in earthy colours sadly.
I live and work in the north penines , it rains here. A lot.

I have the kuiu attack pro pants

Absolutely crap for anything other than summer stalking in dry conditions.

They are noisy as beyond as well.

Never used it , sounds another one of those brands though that people think are great because of the std retail price being silly expensive , it has to be good if its that much right ? Well no unfortunately its hardly ever the case. If a product is that expensive to make , why would there ever be heavily discounted sales?

Guide jacket - on my second as pointer ate first one. I love them - as said previously others don’t. It’s ideal for walking and beating I find and easily outperform Arteryx soft shell I bought on a whim for fell walking Guide sizing neat if you like thick wool jumper or fleece

Peleton 240 jacket - great for outer layer or mid layer Fits true to size

Strong fleece and Merino good

Pants - gaiters and socks no good for me

Yukon I found too much cost for my use and did not care for the neoprene cuffs

As stated wait for sales, but still cheaper than Harkila

Great company to deal with and as I have a bit of fell walking kit I would not say you cant compare many brands for the jackets That said Montane - haglofs - Fjallraven do better pants, darn tough socks are better and Rab puffer range will have some equivalents

Hope that helps

Keela is good stuff at the right money, Kuiu is very fashionable just now, I've had a Yukon for a number of years now but I'll not be paying that kind of money again!

I bought my Kuiu Jackets and trousers because friends of mine have some of there gear and they rate it highly so I took the plunge, I never bought it because of the reason you say, expensive so must be good, I would never have bought it without recommendations from people I know, My go to cold winter hunting jacket is a Rab Valiance waterproof down jacket which I bought in the summer when it was on sale, no one is wearing Down jackets in the summer so I presume this why it was on sale and back to top price now when they know its selling well.

With Kuiu ... you get what you pay for....
HOWEVER, I try to buy when the item I want is in the Sale...they are always having a discounts.
If you can be patient the wet weather stuff tends to go on sale in the Spring and the lighter stuff goes on sale in the Autumn.
Often up to 40% can be had.

Wait till a sale is on, they’re becoming the dfs of clothing with all the sales they have!

Its a massively back firing thing this pricing yo-yo . Have for many years practiced the best prices all year round for the buyer and seller . If anything starts to look like it might set down routes then its time to " muck it off " and get some costs back as long back as we can go in history " right price , right product " are all we need and it works !

I own a fair bit of kuiu kit and rate it highly. I don't mind paying good money for good kit but some items are overpriced although it's not any more expensive than the likes of harkila. Most of the kuiu line is generally designed for active/mountain hunting so if your a Davy deerstalker that sits in a highseat once every 6 weeks your safer saving your money and sticking to jack pyke.
