Hi, I have a GWP bitch that I use for snipe (shooting and falconry). She is a great dog. I'm at a bit of a crossroads with her breeding wise as I do a bit of wildfowling and want to gauge what others think of Lab x GWP?
I was told that stalkers like this cross for tracking etc? So have joined the forum for this reason. I also have family who are deer stalkers and we also farm red deer in Cumbria. Thanks, Nick

First cross "anything" vary wildly , you could get the very worst bits of both or worse it could just be a GWP , lol ( yeah i have had them ) . Totally bias to a good Labrador , the only hard bit with most work bred Labs is getting them to bay. One of the very youngest breed of dogs, yet the worlds most popular in working or pet homes - says a heck of a lot that does !

Hi, welcome. I'm sure someone has tried this and got good results, but I just don't know. It's tempting to think you get teh best of the cross, but genetics is a fickle thing. The crossing for a stupid name has thrown up some real problems.

Wasn't there someone marketing a "new" type of pointer with a fancy name that was basically a lab×gwp? I'm sure I read something about it on here some years back.
