Hello to you all,
I'm based in Bromsgrove Worcestershire and I'm interested in learning the ropes and getting involved in some shoots as a beater. I have a love of the outdoors and our countryside and its sports and way of life and would like to get involved.
Unfortunately I have no experience and am 51 yrs old! I am fit and healthy and enjoy trudging about up and down hills so thought I might be able to put all that walking to good use. If anyone has any tips or advise I'd love to hear rrom you.
Many thanks
Justin

The beating season is at an end now so you will have to wait untill October. Welcome to the site.

BC.
Just looking to get in touch with the community and see if there's anything I need to do prior to the season starting so I can be best prepared, just not sure what that might be as yet, I'd really appreciate any advise on the best way forward.
Thanks again.

Water proof jacket and stud on leggings would be a start. a lot is dependent on the type of cover you are beating, some shoots are in wood land cover or both brambles and cover crops, when its raining it can be pretty miserable if you do not have the right type of gear on. The top quality gear can be ruined in a season as can cheap stuff so you are looking all the time for the happy medium.

Thanks for that, as they say there's no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing choice.😃

Welcome to the site,

Last week of the season now but getting yourself out to a few local pubs and meeting shoot syndicate members in the afternoon afterwards.
You can see where they are by the vehicles in the car park.
Start talking and see where you go from there.

If you were closer to us everyone is always looking.
Best of luck 🤞
