Spartan Bipods?

Right folks, opinions needed.

Every time I tweak something weight wise on the rifle , it becomes a bit more pleasant to use. Last thing I changed was for a lighter mod and it makes a big difference to the balance for carrying.

I’ve two Harris bipods. 9-13” and 12-25”. I usually use the 9-13” unless it’s mid summer or deep heather. I prefer shooting off the bipod when I can.

The difference between the 9-13 Harris and the longer Spartan is 159g. Is it worth the difference in weight? Noticeable?

I believe the other perk is that you can quickly attach the bipod magnetically onto the rifle to make carrying more comfortable. Is there a clip on the Spartan to take a sling if you were to have it permanently attached? Is the magnet strong enough to hold a sling onto the weight of rifle? Seems a gamble. I would need to add an adapter but I only have one QD stud.

Any thoughts or experiences on them would be appreciated. Best thing since sliced bread or much and such?

The sling fits to there stock mount bi pod adapter not the bi pod. I was in the same boat until i tried one found them to be good but a warning if you are in thick tangle grass and move be sure to look down lol.
I ended up fitting a gunsmith mount a few inches in front of the mag as it gave more movement on sloping ground . also its bob on to use a tripod with the ball mount if you intend on plotting up. there is a vid showing how the mount fits . or drill and glue in the gun smith plug its very easy .

After 4 season with it, I’m moving away from the Spartan javelin as more and more noticing the need for fold down no noise features, which I miss. Had a spooked deer last year from the magnet click sound when putting on the bipod. Plus when crawling into position putting it on increases your profile by having to raise the rifle up. Not as stealthy as my old Harris to deploy.

I have the same shorter Harris as you, Felt I needed higher position to get above long grass/on the hill and bought the 30 to 50 cm legs for the Spartan javelin .

i’m now considering going for the Spartan Valhalla, which you can leave fixed on and has full down legs that are interchangeable with the javelin. You me Want to consider, although I don’t think it saves any weight over your Harris options. hope this helps.

Cheers folks! Mixed reviews and I thought there may have been more of a fan club for them on here. I’ll maybe hold off for just now and see. I’m not completely convinced by the magnetic attachment. I’m all for a weight reduction but like to have the bipod on 24/7 so I can deploy it easily,(would help for shooting off sticks though).

They’ve got a new one coming out later this year which is more akin to flip out legs type, and likely picatinny attachments rather than magnetic spigot.

Any more information on this. Was told on here Spartan mite be releasing one at the shooting show this month but can’t see any more information on the products On their website etc.

I never got on with Harris as made rifle too front heavy. Love the spartan. Have a selection of lengths for different environments and will likely get a valhalla if I ever pimp up my rifle!

i love mine, use it on all my rifles, some have the gunsmith adaptor fitted, and some the classic adaptor.

I have the older Spartan 300 which folds away and locks onto the rifle, but also is also quick detachable with the Spartan magnet system. With the addition of the new Tac quick extend legs it’s about the best bipod they do in my opinion.

Plus points....very light, well made, good customer service. Bad points....easy to lose, slow to set up, expensive. I took the Harris off my rifle as most of my shooting now is done off sticks, with only an occasional outing on the hill. Works well enough for me.

Any pictures please?
Google provided this so no need - never seen this variant before.

Mine has the modern tax legs not slow to deploy twist and extend ones.

So if you shoot a lot from sticks and walk about a lot they are Brilliant although the pro tac version with long legs is the best by far (I’ve had them all). I’ve always fitted the gunsmith adater which is the best solution. I carry it in a leather holster on my bino pouch never far from hand and easy to deploy. I don’t think the noise is an issue it’s noisier loading a round! I would attach just before last stalk in when you chamber a round and leave it folded till your in place. 90% of my deer are shot off sticks but I always take it and it doesn’t weigh me down

Go to c. 9.15 in the video to see the new Vidar bipod.

I’ve emailed Spartan and they’ve said it’s being launched in June.

I’ve also seen some prototypes similar but that attach via picatinny.

Have also noticed this from Sako which looks to be a Spartan made bipod, but is magnetic.

I’ve posted here on a number of occasions about the Spartan system and overall,

I’m a great fan. I haven’t spooked anything with the “magnet cluck” as others describe and I find the options to use the adapter with my bipod, bonnet rest, Blaser sticks and quad mount suit my stalking needs very well. I too started with Harris but rapidly found that I needed the longest to get over summer grass height and that’s a large lump to carry around when I predominantly use sticks. Moreover, with an adapter on every rifle, one set suits all of them and there’s no faff in moving it between rifles. Overall, a fan but with reservations (especially the long leg loss issue - solved by a modified carrying arrangement) and as others say, the cost but buy once, cry once.
