I have been shooting in the West Yorkshire and York area for roughly 15 years, primarily vermin control with a .17hmr. Over the past 2 1/2 years have preferred deer stalking primarily with a .243 calibre but planning to transition to a .270 to incorporate the use of copper and to facilitate the stalking of larger species than roe.

Firearms officer would only let me keep one or I filled the form out incorrectly.
Does anybody have any advise on what load to use in a .270 for Roe so that there isn't too much meat damage?

Shame on your Firearms Officer!
You could easily have justified keeping the 243 for foxes and the smaller deer species, and added 270 for the larger deer.

130 grain seems to be the go-to bullet weight for 270, but I confess I've never shot a roe with mine. I kept my 243 for that

Welcome to the forum . Have to say the 243 win with the right bullet is a brilliant deer rifle on all UK deer . 243 rifles are now coming in with faster twists to handle the longer bullets . 270 is also a good rifle on deer though it burns more powder and is harder to moderator and has more recoil .
I have been told allsorts about 243 like its no good for sika ( It 100% will ) And does it well with the correct bullet , Reds also . I have decades of using them and have gone without one for 4 years now and i am shortly going to get another i feel now the whole 100 grain thing is over in Scotland .
