My uncle passed away a couple years back and he had this tucked away as a little nest egg

1989 Mitsubishi shogun all original paint tiny bit of welding done to the n/a sill, wheels in nearly new condition, interior beyond clean, tyres all great, engine bay very good condition, underside very clean, just look at the miles on the clock totally original.

£9995

It really is so tidy for a car nearly as old as me.

I'm trying to get as much info from my aunt as I can, on the paperwork/history. As I'm sure you're all aware, most purchases are usually best when we keep the details AWAY from our wives.

I do recall him saying it was all original, nothing replaced.

JH have you managed to get any further detail on this ? I’d be interested to see some internal, internal and underside photos when you can get them please ?

Apologies, I'll chase the family. Car is located at my Aunt's house so I'll get someone over there to take some more photos and get some more details

I have made a crazy decision to purchase it myself.

It's been sitting on my aunt's property, teasing me with every visit. I love the idea of being able to drive around in my uncle's old car. I've got his old Belgian Browning too, so a shooter's gun and a shooter's car to carry on in memory of him

👍

Good decision, what a beauty!

I had a swb of this version many moons ago. It was very reliable, rugged and very capable little motor. The only real issue to look out for beyond the usual corrosion protection and general maintenance is the cylinder head. If it's a diesel they develop a crack almost usually at 80,000 plus miles. Its an easy fix with after market heads being available and easy to swap. Also just about every moving underbody part of these have grease nipples, proper old fashioned stuff. In many ways I wish I still had it.

And the fuel lines corrode and leak so will need replacement with non metal ones.

Bought one off the founder/admin on here some years back, two blown heads and replacement fuel lines, new shocks, new rear door hinge, and tyres were cracked and one day stood flat in the ground, all within 6-12 months or so. Lesson learned! 😂

But! I loved it when it drove, looked and felt great, awesome off road.

Keep on top of yours, and it will be a wonderful car, but don’t wait until issues pop up, look after it regularly.

Good decision IMHO

nice one! ☝️

Just watch out you don’t work them too hard on the revs and acceleration, gently does it and the head should last a long time.
