I was just reminded of this thread when I came across this broken off antler.
Looks pretty much identical to the photo in the OP:

I now reckon it was sika. But we’ll probably never know…

Look at the back of the skull, it’s a young sika IMHO, mix that with the pedicles and sweeping antlers

Its Roe , sika skull would be larger , antlers further apart and not have the typical roe pearling.

I've studied this whole thread intently, and have finally come to this undoubted conclusion,which is to rule out, Muntjac and CWD. I hope this helps?

Had fur on it. Probably meat too. Eyeballs likely present. On the balance of probability, attached to a body.

I think it was quite typical for the ground it came off, but I don't really know. It was one that @Mouse shot a few years back. It may have been when she was staying with @Freeforester, so he might know more about it than I do.
