Show us your best shed antler find!

I found this one last year friend said we would go take a look for some antlers and he found one probably within the first 10 minutes of looking, I spotted this one ahead in the wide open through a ride they were using.... beginner friendly antler!
I was meaning to get out this year my dad metal detects and has access to quite a lot of farms, however he does not drive (e-bike) my mom works, and I work (dont drive) so days where all three of us are available are few and far between now.

I really enjoyed it I would love to do it again but I'm not terribly sure how to go about it since I'm not looking for them on properties I shoot on so my history and understanding of the deer is zilch.

Weird... couple hundred quid alone just tossed out like utter garbage :/

I assume someone (or yourself) took them?

Nice. How do they compare to previous years? Are these the best yet?
They're not great. Never will be, given our lack of essential trace elements. If I wanted my deer to grow good heads I'd need to feed them all year round.
Having said that, these antlers are a bit of an improvement on the previous year's. Not a lot bigger, but much heavier with thicker beams. Still very porous though, with most of the spellers worn away, and about 1/4 of the length of the palm worn away. That'll also be due to the poor nutrition.
I'm fairly hopeful that the next set will be an improvement on these as he's come through the winter in better condition this year.

I dont want to create a new thread, I feel like this is a fitting one to re-kick up given another casting season is sort of finishing up? 16" spike what is cool In its own way in my opinion! found it tonight still has the "wax" ring around the base, probably at most a week old a lot of our stags still have antlers weirdly I seen a stag well over 600 yards out (so... a decent head) still having antlers.

Went to erect a shed on a part of my garden last week , started clearing the site,a lot of leaves lying so picked them up and noticed a jaw bone on the ground , went to kick it out the way and nearly broke ma toe 😁, son handed me a grape and I dug this out the ground . Chuffed to bits but couldn’t think where and when I had shot it so a Quick Look back to 22 and there it was 👌😁. Not a shed antler but forgotten antlers .

I have had a good master buck on my ground for past 3 to 4 years. Never found his casts until last May.
I went out with my son and partner hunting for casts. We split up and walked a wood the deer often bed up in.
By the time we all regrouped at the far end Jenny was carrying this huge matching pair.
My jaw dropped.
All she had to say was, are these the ones you were looking for 😂IMG_1720.webp

I'm assuming that's the buck you were posing last year? looks like this years antlers really came around, still pretty short in the front but that seems like to just be a trait of himself rather than nutrition, I'd assume the "notch" in the right antler is actually a broken piece of paddle?

is there any other bucks your due to have growing up now that you kept on VSS?

Yes, the notch is where a piece broke off when fighting.

I have a couple, but nothing worth reporting on in the antler department. I have kept them for their good body size and ability to maintain condition through the winter, rather than for their heads.

Found these bad boys......next to a pile of legs.....these will be going on the porch for sure 👍
