Hello all
I am joining the site to keep an eye on and contribute to a few threads regarding gear. I am from Maryland in the US so European stalking is different and interesting to me. I am into archery, shotgun, and rifle hunting. I mostly do whitetail and sika in my state, but also travel west for elk and mule deer backpacking trips. My favorite place is the salt marsh chasing sika or shooting ducks.
Guns include
Tikka t3x 300wsm proof carbon barrel krg bravo chassis

Welcome to the forum . Your Sika are smaller there compared to ours i believe ? Keep looking at 6 ARC but as we cant go semi Auto is seems not really that worthwhile when it ends up in a std action

Yes they’re significantly smaller from inbreeding as the ones in Maryland all come from a few originals that a rich guy had shipped in long ago. We need yall to ship over a nice stag to shake up the gene pool please! They also live almost exclusively in dense unforgiving salt marshes here because that’s the only place they can out-compete white tail. I believe it has something to do with their digestive systems ability to process the tough marsh grasses. 6 ARC is a neat little round but its purpose is to improve 556 based semi auto platforms. I think you would be better served by short action cartridges like 308, 6.5 creed, 243 depending on range and game you’re after.

The bloodline is the same as ours in the Forrest of Bowland here in North west England and straight across the water that separates their Kin In Ireland.
The 6 arc was for a dedicated NV culling tool , its as likely to go 6 creed or a fast twist 243 . NV isnt a long range thing and i just fancied putting more open ground between the NV gun and my 260 rem stalking rifle .

Ah ok yeah I think a short handy 6ARC would be great for that. NV is out of my budget for now so I’m jealous. I like to watch the sika hunting YouTube videos from England but there aren’t all that many it seems.

Not many actually film the stalking they do here and remember we are a lot smaller Nation regards land mass. Sika are only available in a few places in the UK and most of the good spots are not available to just book

@Bowland blades
Here they are in a very small location as well. Mostly all in one county it takes about 30 minutes to drive through. That was fine until the Netflix show Meateater did an episode about Maryland’s little secret. Since then competition has been high and public land extremely crowded. I think there are some in Texas as well but not wild populations, more like large game ranches. Years ago there was also a wild population of fallow deer here that was wiped out when I was still little. I would have loved to try that.

I have always found Fallow a bit dim but they produce great venison for sure . Yeah i always feel for the locals when someone puts film up and location , in hunting and fishing locations
