Compact tractor

Having got sick of lifting heavy things…I decided to get a compact tractor with loader, having had a few tractors in the past I decided to try a chinese offering this time…one of the Dongfeng offerings (interestingly they are the second biggest manufacturer of diesel engines apparently!) it’s badged under Land Legend and assembled in the U.K., wondering if anyone has any experience with them or the dealer - Cowling Agri in Somerset?

I needed something that could be moved around on a trailer with a pick up, had turf tyres and didn’t cost too much for sitting there most of the year…so, we’ll see how it goes I guess!

They might. However I’ve had a Kubota, they are not without issue…and I’m not sure for the usage of it would make a significant difference.

They look ok, part of MF so can’t be too bad! A bit big for what I need though!

The TAFE tractors use all the molds from mf 135 etc tractors. A good few farmers are using these as scraper tractors on dairy farms, and they're notoriously hard on kit like that.
If you follow tom pemberton on you tube he's recently bought a siromer tractor, came in a crate in kit form, looked good for the money. A friend has a Branson tractor for light hedge cutting and field maintenance, he loves it.
Some cheap little tractors about, as long as you can get parts ok.

I have some experience with these type of tractors. They all come "flat packed" from China, hence they are all assembled in this country, by which ever agent you purchase them from. They are really good value for money. They do the job they are made for without problem. Will they still be going in 60 years from now ? Maybe not, but for the here and now, and they money they are, they are well worth looking at.

You probably will get a very good warranty also with your purchase.

Brings me back in time to a very frosty morning that I had I knocked over a sambar hind with my then 'new' .308 Norma Mag. I enlisted old mate Tim to bring his compact tractor for the towing, a few of you farm boys could ID it. ( I know). That articulated little beast punched way harder than its weight and some may scoff at small tractors, but then they don't know how useful they can be.
The frame was for deploying vineyard nets btw.

I've used Kubota sub compacts in my landscaping business over the past 40 odd years without any need for engine repairs

As @Malxwal said Kubota parts are very expensive, my landowner has x3 and I look after them. Straightforward to work on but every little piece comes as a separate part.
A tree stump ripped the steering onto full lock and shattered the steering box casting. I think the casting was over £400 and it came with absolutely nothing, no bearings, seals or anything.

You obviously look after yours. Engines that are serviced and looked after don't generally end up at a reconditioning engineer unless they're truly just worn out.

I’ve had a Yanmar and a Kubota both were good but I’d say the Yanmar was the better little tractor.
