Wanted: Garmin handheld GPS

I am looking for a good Garmin GPS with the UK basemaps to carry along when out and about with dogs, stalking, fishing and for field work. I am interested in the Etrex, 64/65/66 series in decent condition. My phone and garmin smartwatch are proving a bit feeble when in more remote locations.

Thanks!

I use OS Maps on my iPhone, incredibly accurate, shows all the paths with different 'layers' and never fails to have a strong signal, it has literally saved my life.
I think it's around 30 quid a year and worth every penny.

Likewise. I also use OS maps
You can also download map areas to your phone, so they are always available, even when there is no phone signal.

Absolutely, don't forget you don't need a phone signal to use the GPS OS maps. I've looked at the Garmin devices and IMO they are nowhere near as quick and easy to use, have usually much smaller screens and are another bit of kit to carry, I do carry a lightweight power bank for extended trips out, but that's just me, I have never had to use it as the GPS maps seem to use negligible phone battery. I've always been very aware that in large swathes of Scotland you are usually with no phone signal and in the winter a twisted ankle could be a disaster, so considered a sat phone, but then again, that just me being Mr Belt & Braces, I always give someone my location and return ETA, I know a lot of people who don't bother with any of this, but you cannot be too careful and I like the saying "Its better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it".
One last thing, I was told years ago that the mountain rescue services use EE for their phones as its the best service, I tested this by taking identical Vodafone and EE phones with me and sure enough the EE got a signal when the Vodafone didn't.
