I’ve bought it already, so more was looking for others that had one for comment.

It needs to be a tractor as need the versatility/options to use other implements.

Brings me back in time to a very frosty morning that I had I knocked over a sambar hind with my then 'new' .308 Norma Mag. I enlisted old mate Tim to bring his compact tractor for the towing, a few of you farm boys could ID it. ( I know). That articulated little beast punched way harder than its weight and some may scoff at small tractors, but then they don't know how useful they can be.
The frame was for deploying vineyard nets btw.

That's one hell of huge animal John (Sambar?) - makes me cringe thinking about how I would extract that on some of the ground I stalk here in the UK.

For the majority of UK stalkers, bar fallow which are now getting endemic in places, it's mostly roe and muntjac which are frankly easy to get out. Sika are IMHO not too bad as are young fallow. Mature master fallow bucks and mature reds - that's a whole different world. Red are not that widely dispersed outside of Scotland sadly although there are several regional groups. For most of the red stalkers its ATV, UTV or commonly Argos up North but frankly any mechanical assistance to hand will be utilised.

and she is just a hind and it makes me cringe too these days. The "oh **** we have a schittload of work to do now."
As mentioned prev I`m a fan of steel cable and a 4wd.
I shot a rough stag about a K up the back of the same mates place, walked out, knocked on his door "hoy mate got a job for you" The little tractor did the job extremely well as the deer was in a rough place.

I've had Kubota's for 10 years with no problems, first one bought new and had for 9 years and the second bought second hand, I only changed as we now have some steep slopes and need to run a flail collector, not sure loaders on little tractors make much sense though.

If its sitting there most of the year, why not just hire one in when you need it

I've had Kubota's for 10 years with no problems, first one bought new and had for 9 years and the second bought second hand, I only changed as we now have some steep slopes and need to run a flail collector, not sure loaders on little tractors make much sense though.

The compact loaders can lift half a ton - there aren’t many people that can sustain lifting heavy things without injuring themselves over time…also, compact tractors can go into places and onto soft ground that larger machines wouldn’t dare - hence my reason for getting the compact with turf tyres. To me, it makes perfect sense! I can also use it to cut grass, run a log splitter…the list goes on and on…

Went through a similar thought process 5 years back. Have a look at isekie compact tractor with 38hp. These were powerful in their class but still small enough, with a loader. Think they can lift 650kgs maybe more and a 1000 kgs at the rear ball ends . Isekie are Japanese made by the same factory that makes the compact mf tractors but generally cheaper.

In the end I went classic for a aged mf 35 reconditioned 1959, which has worked well but hydraulics are needing servicing. I miss the front loader tho.

It’s a bit difficult to say when you need it…it’s a sporadic thing…

Most hire places can get it to you within a day, not ideal I agree, but gets you better kit with less cost

I’ve still got a TEA20, with a loader - but the old greys are a bit of a pain as you need to be in neutral or driving in gear to lift anything with the loader or run the PTO….

But at 76 years old she’s done a lot of work!

Nice old girl. My brother bought an international 434 last year as it’s the same as we learnt to drive on. It runs his saw bench and log splitter and some pottering around jobs. Handy to have about.

I have a Jinma 254 which is a 25hp 4wd offering. It’s really good but Sironmer have a dealer near Gloucester way I think. Really really helpful and helped me out for parts a few times…. Turns out they are interchangeable between the brands

The Jinma 254, Dong Feng 254 and Land legend 254 are the same tractor apparently - so that’s essentially what I have bought….how do you find the Jinma?

Here`s a boy for you @wytonpjs although a fair lump he still hasn't reached the 'big boys' club. He debuted on SD quite a few years ago.
