Geovid Vs Swaro ELs

Im currently running Swarovski 8x42 EL binos and top end Leupold range finder.

Trying to reduce my kit and convenience on the hill and general stalking.

Looking at replacing both with Leica Geovids but old style, can't afford the latest.

Is this a bad move worried about optical quality against convenience?

TIA

If the Swaro and the Geovids are similar age then no not really much in it. Personally I think the Swaro glass is very marginally better but the Leica laser is better. Older kit mind.

I have a 2007 set of 8x56 Geovid and my new 10x32 B's set is brighter. Coatings have progressed hugely. My Swaro 10x32 NL is better than either of these optically. I also think the new Leica laser is more reliable but takes longer to "boot up" which is the reverse of how it used to be.

Laser in the old Leica was still miles better than lesser quality hand held units.

If it is just stalking use (and you don't want the ballistics functions) then may be worth looking at thermal LRF?

optically you wont be able to tell the difference, slight tipping in favour of the Swarovskis
some eyes prefer the colour scheme of one over the other

the rangefinder is significantly better and easier to use in the Leicas

The data share option for anyone using kestrel or AB in the newer Leica is a game changer

I love my Leica Geovid HD-B 10x42's but they are heavy and the LRF has reduced over time. It's still able to range distances better than I shoot but it's a known issue I think.

However, I won't be getting rid of them in a hurry even though I have a pair of GPO Rangefinder 2800 in 10x32 and a set of Habrok 4k's - each has it own use ;)
