Anyone had corrective eye surgery, specifically any lense replacement and any subsequent problems with master eye etc.

@racca3

Have had both done this year.

So far, so good.

I don't know how to link it, but I posted some drivel on it all earlier.

When your surgeon has a sense of humour...

Not had it done myself, but know two people quite well who have. Both have had big improvements in their overall vision. Both have had to go back (under guarantee) to have one of their eyes re-done. Both no longer need glasses to read or drive, and are happy they had it done.

I have not had it done.
I looked into it (no pun intended) when my eyesight first deteriorated over 30 years ago, but couldn't afford it. I started wearing contact lenses instead. Over the years I have spent far more on contact lenses than I would have spent on eye surgery, and often regretted not having it done.
However, I know many people who have had corrective eye surgery. At the time, they said it was the best thing they'd ever done. But with the passage of time, I notice that all those people are now fussing about with multiple pairs of glasses (reading, driving, TV, etc) and a number of them have had to have additional eye surgery. In contrast, I have enjoyed 30 years of trouble free 20/20 vision with my contact lenses. I put them in first thing in the morning and take them out last thing at night. At times I even sleep in them (eg, if camping). I don't ever wear glasses.

Now, on reflection, I'm glad I didn't go for the surgery option. It may seem great at the time, but in a few years you're back to square one.
As I get older my eyesight is naturally changing again (for the better this time) and it is likely that at some point in the not-too-distant future I won't require contact lenses anymore. In fact, my eyesight has already reached the point where I could legally drive without glasses or lenses. Had I had surgery, who knows what state my eyes would be in now?

Work friend had the magic operation, supposed to last about 10 years.
But now as Tim said with age related " alterations " she's looking at variafocals after 6 years.
It does seem to accelerate deteriorating eyesight after a couple of good years.

Cataract removal involved new lenses
Lens replacement to 'cure' cataracts, is what this is all about.

Cataracts (left unattended) only ever get worse.
I could read without glasses but age is now taking its toll slowly.

Nothing will stop the 'aging process'...

And your eyes will continue to 'change' over time.

However, they will 'change', without the additional burden of a cataract.

Having had (this year), both lenses replaced (cataracts), it has been (for me) an absolute game changer.

Quite a coincidence this thread coming up! My wife had laser eye surgery for a cataract just yesterday. She is fine and already saying that there is an improvement but the eye is a little "sore".
At the moment I am calling her "Popeye" which she isn't too delighted about but I'm fairly safe for now as she is a lousy shot with the things she throws at me! ;)

I had mine done a year, Lasik, its amazing. ive been wearing glasses since i was like 9 for distances. The actual operation as very unconfortable and for the next week i had looked like i was in a punch up. But as soon as i sat up from the table i could see 10x better then i could before, and i was pretty blind.
A year down the road, vision is better then 20/20, only down side was the cost haha and i do notice some floaters more, but i think my brain just needs to get used to filtering them out.
Its really made my shooting better and more enjoyable.
