Which Pulsar LRF Thermal should I buy?

Looking for advice

I am upgrading my thermal and looking for a Pulsar with LRF.
Before anyone mentions other brands and good value, I have looked and do realise the price difference but I just like the quality of the Pulsars.
Most of my stalking is Cornwall or Home Counties woodland and farmland so believe a 35 is what I should purchase?

The two units I am currently considering are:-
Pulsar Telos LRF XQ35 and the Pulsar Axion 2 LRF XG35

Any advice appreciated
Many thanks,

Can't speak for the Telos but I use a Pulsar xg35 lrf. What ever unit you choose I'd suggest looking through them both if you can.

Your profile says Berkshire which isn't the other side of the world so if you wanted to meet up you can have a look and play with the unit

I have the xq35 lrf. It’s OK. Does what I need it to do. The Game fair coming up. They have so many on display there you can look at if you were going would be worth a look for comparison.

I had a Telos 35 LRF on trial for a week and returned it. My hands are to big to use it comfortably. Buttons not user friendly and optically not a lot better than my XQ38. You need to look at the Pulsar and Hik Condor and then decide.

I think his mind is made up on wanting a pulsar. I would follow your advice but lets see what he decides on.

If it was me buying again I would go with the above advice about try before you buy. I moved from Helion xq38f to the Axion 2 LRF XG35 and regret doing so. I’ve hated the latter from day one, for me personally I felt that the xq38 was better for me.

Can you put you finger on why? Form factor, FoV, etc.

I have the Axion 2 XG 35 it’s a great compact spotter, easy to use features and good field of view

I have an xg35, I really like it. It’s unbelievably durable, I’ve used mine in absolutely foul weather night after night and it’s never given me any issues.

The one downside to the xg35 i feel is the bulk of the lfr on the side, I'd rather it was beneath for a slimmer profile to rest against the body/in a pocket when not in use having said that id found that bulk quite ergonomic for my hands when scanning so its catch 22

I’ve had a Telos XP50 since they first came out in LRF guise, initially hating the underneath LRF but over time liking it more and more as it naturally lines up the thermal as I grab it out of the pouch to use whilst providing a good hand-hold. You do need to remember to make sure your fingers are not in front of the LRF but that’s quickly learnt. In the Axion, I’ve always thought of the Axion LRF variants to be lumpy and unbalanced compared to the non LRF variants (I have a non-LRF as a back-up).

Given the investment involved, it would definitely be worth trying both models out side by side before buying, to allow you to see what suits you best.

Based on personal use, I find that the ergonomics of the Telos LRF wins hands down over the Axion 2 LRF.

The ‘future upgrading’ capability of the Telos is also a plus factor, which the Axion 2 does not afford.

Thanks all for your answers and insights so far, the ergonomics and weight are certainly factors I am looking into.
I have had the Telos on trial and its a big unit, now looking forward to testing the Axion and see how I get on with it.

So far for me the positives for each are:-
Axion - weight and image quality
Telos - upgradeability

You need to think about the cost and possible benefit of the upgrades. Appears nothing planned for the 35mm Telos when I inquired about it.
The 50mm is a fair lump of a unit. Also they need to think out a upgrade to allow a good attachment system for a neck strap. No way can you faff around with the pouch they supply.

Agree, i think this upgrade thing is just something to put on the list of specs to make it look attractive.
Once committed on the basis of future upgrades you a relying on them being available and worth the extra money on top of what you have already paid out, in the meantime something better is launched by the competition, things move fast!
