Felt wads for BP revolver - making my own is way cheaper

Each time I have bought felt wads for the Uberti .44, the price has leapt a phenomenal amount.

So I decided to buy the makings and produce my own. 12mm punch, 3mm pure wool felt and some 3-in-1 oil...

To be fair, the felt was not cheap. The polyester versions of felt are cheap, but I suspect there is the risk of melted plasticisers remaining in the barrel. Anyhoop, the sheet of wool felt will outlast all my shooting.

punched eight bore wads for years from thin white felt to one inch thick brown i used some lead melted in a beans tin about two inches thick to strike on better than wood as it doesnt take the edge of the punch
