so one of the farms i shoot on has a child's nursery near it full of posh kids, as a rule i dont go down there when its open, but now and again i have as i shoot/load test a good 800 yards away from them, and fire in the opposite direction, today i was testing some creedmoor loads id made, after 10 m ins this women comes trespassing over the cow field and into the one i was in, asked what i was doing, alsorts of smart answers came into my head, but i just said testing some bullets, told her i rarely come when the school is open, she said given the knifings the other day they very nearly put the school into lockdown, WOW, she then said there have a parents afternoon shortly and she would rather me not scare them all to death, my initial thought was sorry love not my problem, but my answer was, ok i will pack in now and go else where, all nice and pleasant, farmer then rang to say they had called him to complain, think he told her to jog on, then an hour later i get a voice mail from the police letting me know there had been a complaint made against me for scaring all the kids in the school, again. wow. now I'm not evil and i can see there point, but if i stayed home every time i thought id upset someone id never get out, seems every time i go shooting nowadays someone rings the police, no my fault they dont like shooting or the noise,

so i guess my question is, where do i stand shooting near a private nursery, 800 yards away shooting in the opposite direction,

You can - but is it sensible ?

probably not, thats why i dont, but today for 20 mins i decided to put my need above others,

And its created aggro and stress for people and yourself really

Sometimes there are issues that mean we must use guns and disturb even bother others but reading your post i dont think this was one of them

All the best mate

yes mate correct, and with it being a nursery i fully understand there point, but it seems every time i go out i have the police ring me as someones complained, a few weeks ago some bloke in his garden said a bullet had zipped passed his head and called the police, dont think he mentioned the bullet to them, as it never happened, shooting rabbits with a 22lr a few nights ago and someone took my reg and reported me to the police, all on different farms, police rang me on all occations, no telling off, just to let me know they had had a complaint,

One or two complaints I would consider to be someone being deliberately awkward, and ignore.
Multiple complaints, from unconnected sources, I would consider maybe it's time to take a look at your own behaviour?

nothing to do with my behaviour, just stuck up ^&%$£ round here, do something they dont agree with, or make a bit of noise and they feel they must do something about it, not necessarily complaining about me, more just a man in a farm field shooting, shock horror,

Zero some where else and 800 mtr really you need to think from there point of view. You could always take the woman to court for illegal trespass that might sort out a problem.

800 yards isn't far, lets face it you credmoor boys just start thinking about drop and windage quiet a bit after that.
😂
Seriously is it worth the bother just fined somep place better to go and move on with life.

I have a similar piece of land.

School was built on opposing land and I could see the headlines waaaay before building finished. So when completed I reached out to the Head Mistress of the facility and arranged a meeting with coffee to advise her of who I was, what I do, when I do it. She appreciated the common sense approach and anytime I am on this land during hours of pupils she gets an email and she then advises her chosen teaching staff. This way any glorified headlines are avoided, she doesn't want the PR scandal, I don't want the PR scandal so we work together.

I rarely...probably 4 times have zeroed my rifle during school hrs, and mainly shoot at night. The other facilities at the location do run into the evening and in the past I advised local forces via email. This was until after numerous emails I was advised that notification wasn't necessary and they call me if there is any query.

Amicable all round and common sense reigned. Although you may have missed the boat on this one.

Seems to me you're the one with the grievance here!

Sadly though, standing your ground will likely get you nowhere. Another sad indictment of today's snowflake society

We have a private school within the estate,we actually use their sign on the main road as a waymarker when giving directions to the shoot.
Bursar is given dates as soon as I have them so knows beforehand when volleys of gunfire expected. I dog in if needed by texting bursar before walking the hedges with the dogs, never on their ground whilst kids are out playing.
Because of this approach, weekend days I'm free to come and go on school grounds, control their rabbits, the jackdaws nesting in the chimneys and generally keep an eye on the place.
Common sense, especially in these times, seems to have paid off. Being able to put a face and a name to "the keeper" has meant no problems so far.
To give you an idea of scale, the school was the Big House for the estate before WW2, one wood is within 200 yards of the building but I stand the guns out of sight the other side, about 400 yards from building.

Very sensitive at the moment the kids and parents would possibly be terrified a crack at 800 yards is still a crack. Just be diplomatic

We're you using sound moderator?
If not, then that's probably the solution.
At 800y, I doubt hey'll not hear the crack left by they moderator .
I have a similar scenario, but with a golf course.
No issues now I have a moderator.
