Out at crack of dawn this morning and 2 cull bucks taken. Saw a group of 9 Curlew and around 50 lapwings.

We had 23 corvids this morning - 430 am
Half a dozen at our place this afternoon and 3 of us sat round the place for a fox i saw yesterday - but no joy

Set up on barley stubble this morning 4.30 am waiting for the corvids to arrive. Not as many about as I'd hoped but still trimming a few carrions and 2 bonus magpies makes it all worth while.

Well I think I’m ready for my 1000 chickens tomorrow, been a busy week, pen extension complete, electric fences on and working well ( yes, I touched it) water systems cleaned out, filled and tested, feeders disinfected and filled and another 100 jobs done, pellet only arrived today, it was meant to be here on Wednesday, few short but a least it’s turned up, my mate was just about to go get some from a lad on a commercial. So up at 4am and fingers crossed for calm birds

Ours have been behaving, some mass escapes but rounded up ok so far. No great fatalities either.

It’s been none stop, hopefully it stays dry for the next few weeks firstly because the birds don’t go far from the water and secondly because they still haven’t cut the wheat at the back of the farm yet, sooner that’s off the better

Do you ever get any air locks in your water system with the pipe lying on the deck

Ours have done really well again this year - hard to tell the hens apart from last years
Lots and lots of wild broods about - just being highlighted with the grass coming off - and still no foxes

Well, they are all in, all 1020 of them, they are so calm, not flighty at all, straight on the food and drink which is good to see

Here’s some popholes I’ve been building. The advantage is that the poults inside the pen cannot walk out.

I tunnel mine inside the pen to stop them going back out, bit of chicken wire and some brake pipe, then when I want them out I just lift the tunnels and tie them to the fence

@stavross , looks good but what I’ve found is that some of the demented buggers obviously jump up and down on the chicken wire funnel in my absence. It then gets flattened preventing re entry.

Put a forked stick in as a prop, birds get past easy, the stick stops the wire collapsing.
