Carry Cases for detached telescopic sights

Good morning all. Having had some innomount QR mounts fitted to some sights to allow quick switching between day and night/thermal sights, I now have the hitherto non-problem of how to safely carry (and store) detached telescopic sights. Having them rolling around the back of the car or jammed under a heavy coat strikes me as a less than perfect solution. Ideally I was thinking of a leather (non-clanking) or strong plastic tube, padded internally.
It is mainly only a problem when late afternoon stalking followed by spending the last knockings in a high seat.
Has anyone any suggestions?
 
Assuming you need to have the scope with you when away from the vehicle then I’d go for a leather tube type case because I’m old school & appreciate the aesthetics. That said, no reason why you could do the same job with a nylon equivalent & probably a lot easier to find (& at a more sensible price) than a leather one.

My thoughts exactly...at the risk of marching about the place looking like Sir Henry Morton Stanley, I remember my grandfather had a number of useful leather cases for hill-glasses. All now sadly in the possession of others, but it wouldn't be beyond the wit of man to have a chat with a leather worker.
 
I’m always of the mind that an item built strongly enough to withstand the recoil of a .375 rifle must be resilient. I pop mine into a plastic tube (unlined) that just stops it getting dirty. It still can roll around a bit but I do think we all handle scopes like Faberge eggs when they’re off the rifle. I know we can’t help it, but they are strongly built. All I’m worried about is scratching coatings or knocking turrets.
 
The padded, zipped, secure case your thermal scope is supplied with?
My thermal is in the case on the truck seat or bag til needed, open the case said case, and switch, case is closed again in seconds and back on seat, bag ect

Agreed, I still have two more (day) scopes that came out of the boxes years ago and have always (until now that is) been attached to a rifle. Just nervous of damaging them if they are dropped, if something drops on them, scratching the lenses etc.

There is a crippling logic to your post. Thank you. A little injection of reality does no harm. Funny how we get on a track and follow it without wondering why we're on it sometimes.

I suspect it probably isn't of the same quality as the original, although the phrase "Jerry Built" comes to mind and makes me wonder...The Germans made some real old rubbish as materials got tighter. Mind you, I have an old grenade box that my grandfather brought back (along with a great deal besides) from the war, and it has served faithfully as the boot polishing box since 1946.
 
For two of my rifles scopes l have these original metal cans.
But the scopes must have their leather lens caps on them for protection before they are put inside the cans.

Had a flight of fancy...Ian and Joe would do it but I suspect I'd need to do the washing up for a month to pay for it

How would I go about tracking one of these down? I suspect from its "patina" that it is older than I am and likely to be out of production...
