Today at work I.....

How does a shotgun light the flare?
Haven't you seen the movies where bullets all create sparks when they hit something. 🤔

They have 12 gauge flare cartridges, not sure if they would be S1 or S2 but all installation managers or their second in command have to have a certificate just like we do.

It usually takes them a few goes to light it because the flares drift with the wind and they have to get it to pass through the gas plume coming out of the flare tip, which is obviously quite some distance away.

Of course 👍🏻

For the last few days, and the next couple, I’m working up at the top of the drilling derrick and the lift that would normally transport you effortlessly to the summit is out of action, so it’s vertical ladders all the way. 😥
That’ll make the calf muscles ache.

Absolute - total and utter ...........
Happens regularly on this stretch mate. I only really get chance to go foxing on a Saturday night. Twice in 5 weeks I caught them on Saturday nights, now they're obviously coming midweek instead 😩

Teasers are in with all the ewes now. With this group I'm trialling something for first time - feeding them 400g/head of cake a day for 10 days before tups go in & for first 10 days with tups. The increase in energy is supposed to increase ovulation & result in a higher % at scanning. 🤞

Trouble is, if you knock off the cake after 10 days they'll be on a declining nutritional plane immediately post tupping, which might hit conception rates despite the increased ovulation rate. If you're going to feed at tupping you really want to keep it up for a month.

I'm basing it on the Golden 20 concept, from Trevor Cook over in NZ.... 20 days of feed at this point. It's a just a small trial group, 60 ewes, but enough to see if it has any effect..
