Parker and Hale Scope Rings

Hi there,

A couple of questions about Parker and Hale scope rings. I was given a Parker and Hale 30-06 Safari Deluxe that had an old Bushnell 4X scope on it that I wanted to replace. I bought A Leupold 3-9 Vari-X, and took it to the local gun store to mount the new scope properly. While mounting the bases again they broke the screw on the bottom base of when tightening. They say I can’t find rings anymore and that I need a gun smith to do something custom.

Can I get RALS3 rings anywhere easily or is this an eBay or call around to gun shops thing?

What does the RALS3 stand for?

Did they make a ring that was slightly taller (away from the base as I’m worried that the the scope may be too low and the safety and bolt may interfere?

Thanks in advance.

James

Yes, you should be able to get those rings 2nd hand.
They're one inch diameter low rings with recoil stops.
Taller rings would be RAHS3. They're even easier to find. Plenty about.

I have Leupold 3-9×50 on both my P-H rifles, and RAL rings are too low. Scope objective contacts barrel. RAH are fine. I'm guessing that's what you'll need.

Use some foam, cardboard or wood to construct a pair of 'dummy' bases/rings and play around with their height until you find the point at which the bolt will fully lift and travel rearward without scope contact. You can use masking tape to hold them to the scope.

This and consideration of objective size will confirm the minimum height of bases required.

Not trying to sell you the rings but they're are a few pics of the sizing charts for PH rings for info. I found them very useful for working out what all the model numbers meant

James,

Some of the Parker Hale scope rings that you require are readily available on eBay or maybe even in one of your Canadian gun shops, RALS3 are the low rings RAHS3 the high rings both types readily available, the set in between are RANS3 so difficult to find, all three sets are for the 1” scope tube.

The chart below should give you some insight as to what the Parker Hale codes actually mean.

I have some RAHS 3 for sale that I bought out of excitement of seeing them, potentially for my bsa but the RALS I have work fine! £35 incl postage if you’d like them which is what I paid. Good condition.
