I’m looking at trying to register a 2nd hand honda fourtrax , agricultural, anyone done it ? How easy/difficult is it , any help / advice be much appreciated

It'd a total pita.
I gave up trying in the end, and bought a new one that was registered from day one.

Even with a brand new bike was never that easy the 1st time.
U end up in a constant loop off needing insurance to register it, but insurance company wants a number plate.
Easier after u have 1.

U will also need a certificaye of conformity? even new bikes have to sit a basic MOT type test.
Wil be more ackward with older bikes.

It's getting the certificate of conformity that's the bother with older bikes.

Have done two quads and one utv now. All of the same make. Contact brand - uk dealership and ask for a certificate of entry/conformity. Give them the VIN and serial numbers and they produce a document confirming the date of import and that the VIN matches the particular model. £70 down and then fill out an application form from the DVLA which is a V55/5 and a £55 fee. Plenty of the questions on the form are not relevant and roughly a third of the form is filled out. The whole process usually took a month from start to finish

I’ve got vin number /model etc , Honda pretty good giving out conformity from what I heard , how do you insure it without number plate though, through vin ? Thanks

You should be able to insure it on the chassis vin number pending a registration allocation.

Thwy used ro only give u 10 days or so on thw vin number and then start whinning about needing a number plate.
That was 15 or 20 yrs ago but easier when u change to a new bike as u already have the insurance

Registering a quad for agri/road use

Hello all, I'm in the process of buying a 2nd hand quad which has never been used on public roads, is it much of a pain to get it agri registered and get number plates to allow some road use, which I need due to locations it will be used. Thanks

Bikesure, NFU can be funny if you don’t have anything else insured with them.
