Dogs that destroy beds

What to do with a dog that destroys every bed.
I have a pal that has his spaniels curl up in old tyres....
The dogs have good kennels, raised boxes, but it's into the minus now, and whilst the sensible ones have beds, one feels it must destroy anything that offers any comfort or insulation.

I've got a dog (male Labrador) that utterly trashed any sort of soft bed, cushion, blanket for the first year of his life. He even had a good go at one of the oval plastic beds, making it look crenelated. If you gave him any sort of toy too, that would go the same way. But eventually he settled down and even looks after soft teddy-like toys now. He is pretty highly strung though and would usually howl like a banshee if left alone, a bit of separation anxiety really but even that now is (nearly) a thing of the past. He will do it still if, for example it's feeding time and we haven't returned, but hey, I complain if I don't get fed too.

So I guess what I'm saying is that if your dog is still young, there's hope.

Vetbed is the only thing my dachshunds haven't shown any interest in destroying. I'm assuming because it's not got any kind of stuffing. Anything more plush or with a filling is instantly eviscerated.

When our hound was little she liked shredding things. So she had a box with all the the recycling cardboard packaging. She would shred it then fall asleep. She grew out of the need to shred.

Shredding/ distruction often a sign of boredom.

My wife buys our pointer beds made by Tuffies, Scotland. The covers and cushions get trashed, the beds themselves survive intact.

My wife says their expensive (i haven't asked to see the actual cost) but they do last despite our dogs best efforts to destroy them.

Mine destroys bed and blankets. Now she sleeps in her cage full of bed fluff and shredded blanket. She seems to like it as is.

my sprocker flatly refused to use a bed , would lay on the floor next to it or destroy it , gave him hay in his kennel where he built himself a little nest but i just stopped bothering anywhere else and he seemed fine

dogs are not stupid and will sort out their own comfort

I've gotten a wee bail of straw, can but try.
She destroyed a Tuffies, but I'm hoping in maybe another years time I can try her with another.
Might chuck some cardboard in there too.

This is my stance, but Mrs Malxwal is being a PIA about it, so I will make attempts both to appease Mrs and mutt.

Cow matting is the job, take it out and power hose it. I find straw and shavings get damp this time of year, constantly changing bedding and a mess in the kennels.
