Rusty Screw Thread

Evening All,

As you can see I have a rifle which I do not use anywhere near enough.... It was not stored with the mod on but it has got rust on the thread. Is this a job for a gunsmith I want to get the rifle ready for sale but although its had less then >100 rounds it is putting buyers off.
HOWA 1500 .308 Stalon Mod Cornwall

Please could I have some advice on what to do.

Bronze wire brush, tape up the barrel a plug of tissue paper and off you go.

It would put me off too as it’s indicative mod has been left on and good chance muzzle end of bore is affected

Not a useful reply 😂

Is the mod thread ferrous? If so it's just transferred some iron to the st/st.
Use a grease on the treads. Stainless loves to gaul.

If you’re selling it with the mod then use a phosphor bronze shotgun brush to also clean the internal thread on the mod. No point going to the trouble of cleaning the rifle thread if the potential buyer screws the mod on and off and sees a load of rust left behind.

PS You may now want to change your username before advertising it for sale. 😉

Yup good clean with a soft wire brush , if it’s bad can get a die run down it , a smith will have one and do it in no time if you’re worried about it
