Wanted: Long stocked English side by side

@McKenzie @grouseman I have a very nice Army and Navy sidelock. New barrels which will shoot standard steel, new wood, only 14.75" lop but it will be cheap enough to gat the stock extended. Only for sale because of a car repair bill. Please pm me for details and pictures. Thanks Dave

Thanks mate. I’m hoping for a 15 plus inch stock

Wise words! The last gun I had extended in wood "in the trade" earlier this year was £175. Supplied, fitted, shaped, the rear of the butt chequered and then the stock refinished so extension and stock matched as near as possible.

So done in wood it is no longer a cheap option. I will get some pictures done as I promised (and then forgot) of the Gunmark Viscount I mentioned. I'll get it done by Sunday evening. My apologies for forgetting the promise.

Thanks but I really want a longer stock for aesthetic reasons. I have plenty of guns with a couple of inches of various materials tacked on the end.

Right. The sidelock is a Gunmark Viscount, these were made by Arietta for Gunmark. 28" barrels, length of pull on all original one piece stock is 15 1/4" to centre from front trigger. Bored (now and done by "in the trade" in Birmingham) to IMP and IMP in both barrels. Weight of gun is 7lbs 1oz.

The boxlock is an AYA Yeoman Ejector with the factory stock extended in wood to give a 15 5/8" length of pull to centre from front trigger. Bored still, I think, as they were from the factory which is tight and tighter. Externally the original Spanish case colour is worn to a grey. It is especially scruffy. 28" barrels the bores of which are rough. Weight of gun is 6lbs 15ozs.

Both guns are 70mm chambers and 12 bore.

Prices reflect that the guns are long stocked. One a factory long stock and the other extended and the stock and forend then stripped and stained to try and disguise that fact. If these were guns with standard stocks they'd be half the price that is being asked. So unless you want a long stock they are not good value. But long stocked guns now seem to command premium prices.

The Viscount is £900 and the AYA £250. Collect face to face only no RFD to RFD and I am near M1 J21 use postcode LE9 2AL. By prior arrangement on Tuesday to Friday they can be tried with me at Normanton Shooting Ground and I'll provide a box of suitable cartridges if you pay for the clays you shoot.
