I do understand that life gets in the way but it is a real shame that people have to cancel that late notice. There's no winner in that situation.

I doubt anyone will bat an eyelid at putting down a non-refundable deposit. Best of luck.

It creates additional admin but I can understand why you need to. When we organise a team of guns to book onto any form of shooting (typically game) we take a reasonable deposit from each of them regardless if one is required as otherwise on the night before there is always one or two texting me with news of a “call from work.” Can’t recall anyone ever dropping out and doing the decent thing of sending over their debt to cover their slot. I did have one gun drop out last minute and then ask for their deposit back!
