FAC Fees Announced

Removal of Moderators from the paperwork involved at present would also relieve a lot of the police work as well.

luckily it looks like the various shooting organizations we pay our subs to managed to get the reasonable and valuable quid pro quos of ( checks notes ) bugger all. thanks lads.

£155 for coterminous renewal of FAC and SGC , don't mind that.
£2.58 a month for carrying out the sport I love, I would spend more than that on a bacon bun at my local clay ground.

It would be interesting to know if the fees would have been higher were it not for the various shooting organisations representing us.

I wonder when my licence needs renewing? Oh, I know, never. Eighteen months ago when I bought a new shotgun it cost about £25 for a life time licence. How I miss living in the UK, not.

Just remind yourself of all the good things you're depriving yourself of by living in Sweden instead of the UK!! :-|
Bet that didn't take long!:rolleyes::tiphat:

Not as bad as i first thought but when will the next one come along maybe it's a sprat to catch a mackerel
Exactly. Now that full cost recovery has been put into place, how long before forces start requesting that they be allowed to calculate their own costs?
I can see this being the start of a very slippery slope.

£155 for 5 years isn’t bad at all, and less than my rod license costs.
That £155 only covers 5 or 6 hrs gof wages so when you consider the time spent on paperwork put in for renewals, home visits, land checks if required etc, it isn’t unreasonable.
Saying that, the entire system could be a lot more efficient in these modern times of secure digital systems.

---- The new fees will allow police forces to fully recover the costs they incur in administering these firearms licences.

so I'm assuming this is the costs to those bodies as it stands now ? so costs go up, they charge more ? any way to monitor/audit those costs ? I think it's already been said that any revenue generated is going on general police funding rather than actually paying for the firearms part. any FAO's on who can say, or shooting org people ?

Aren't they taking the extra money to solve knife crime? Less knives less stabbings = safer.

Though it was more to point out that the reasoning for FAC and SGC are for public safety not our enjoyment.

Dickie,

The Government’s manifesto commitment refers to the money raised by full cost recovery fees being used to support youth interventions to prevent serious violence. However, we have decided instead that firearms fees income must be retained by police forces to support improvements in police firearms licensing. Delivering the youth interventions element of the manifesto commitment remains a priority and will be funded by the Home Office.
A very small crumb of encouragement.:-|
