Climate and Nature Bill - links U.K. emission reduction rate to planet's temperature

Could have been written by Leigh Day on behalf of Wild Justice and Greenpeace.

This sort of thing really is idiotic as they’re making binding commitments without having any idea of what they’re actually committing to do - an agenda that’ll be set by pressure groups launching judicial reviews.

Real ‘heart over head’ stupidity.

We will be paying China, India etc for the privilege.

Lunacy. And where is the proof of causation rather than correlation for the evil carbon?

Already exceeded 1.5 degrees C so paragraph (3) (c) is out of the question

Since there is no linear correlation between taxes and temperature [apart from in this legislation], what is the real agenda?

If this bill is ever enacted, the [unelected] Assembly described therein will pass ever more swingeing cuts that can only decimated the economy and society well-being.

Last Parliament...see who proposed it...so it became dead in the water when Parliament was dissolved for the recent General Election.

More "chicken licken" news. Write to an MP about a Bill that has already fallen and is moribund? Yes let just make ourselves look daft.

Next reading is 24th January 2025 per current parliamentary websearch. Is this in error?

What you refer to in your initial post, that Bill, is not what you have linked to here in this reply.

Just so that you DO know here is the situation of the Bill that you linked to in your initial post.

Climate and Nature Bill
The dissolution of Parliament took place on Thursday 30 May 2024. All business in the House of Commons and House of Lords has come to an end and this bill will make no further progress.

This is the link to the present Bill that you linked to in your reply.

I hope it is useful for people if they are contacting their MP they they now have the correct proposal to refer to.

Same bill afaics, first link was to original draft perhaps. But surely you are just splitting hairs? This parliament is trying to ram through unsustainable and economy damaging legislation.
Not splitting hairs. If you send an MP a question about the original Bill they will mostly reply, as I did, and tell you that that proposal is no longer. The art of avoiding a direct answer. Now with the correct reference to the present iteration of it they can't.

It's utter nonsense.

The met has been told to fix the data from its weather stations and I should imagine so does the rest of the world to drive their small minded mitigating agenda.

Dredge the rivers, dig the ditches and stop bellyaching over it.
Oh and while your at it send the illegals back.

God I hate what has become....

The met office's excuse for climate change is by cherry picking data from the Victorian cold spell rather than considering bona fide scientific work that covers a far greater period.
