Im kind of interested in the New T3X Ace game from Tikka in 308 with 20 inch barrel.

I think it looks great, and definitely ticks a lot of boxes for me. For £1600 it can be ordered in cerakote with a stainless barrel beneath which seems actually pretty reasonable. However the off putting thing is despite the description saying its got a lightweight barrel making it ideal for long hunts, it comes in at 4kg (or 4.2kg for the 24 inch barrel which just seems a bit heavy. My use case will be both stalking and the range but in reality probably 70/30 split (mostly stalking).

Anyone got these on pre order yet? I'm wondering if i can get myself to the shooting show and get hands on. In the meantime, has anyone else got on well stalking with a rifle around this weight (naked)? Im fit and strong but dont want to make things more difficult for no reason. Be keen to hear some opinions!

I like the look of it but it would be heavy for stalking.
You could get it and pick up a tikka synthetic stock and use that when stalking .

Honestly I’ve done nearly all my stalking with a 12lb (all in scoped and loaded) rifle and never had a problem. Occasionally on long walks I wear it accross my back this quest for ultra lightweight seems to be an American thing

£1600 seems a lot to pay for something that's only half built.
All the wooden bits appear to be missing.....
Hah fair one, but horses for courses I suppose. These cross over styles seem to be getting more popular

I wonder if you'd get the same reaction turning up on a traditional Highland stalking estate with one of those as you would turning up at a driven game shoot with a 5 shot semi auto?
Just snobbery I know, but old traditions die hard.

Personally, the cross dressing styles don't really do it for me, but if it works for you then why not? 👍

Very nice, but the chassis alone is more than a T3X Ace it seems, no doubt a nice combo though
Having stalked them for a couple of years, I ended up with an exceptionally good deal from Brownell's that even a colleague in the "Trade" could not beat! Waited an eternity for Border Force to clear it customs though but it was well worth the wait/weight 😂

I’ll shoot a dear whilst wearing a skirt. Makes no odds to me

Don’t think you’ll come across many ghillies using unmoderated wooden stocked rifles.
Most will judge you more favourably on your shooting than on your rifle!
I’m not really a fan of chassis stocks for a few reasons, they’re really cold, they’re really hard to clean mud/blood splashes off of the inside of the stock but seemingly easy to get dirty!
And lastly whilst not an issue with mild cartridges like the .308 recoil can be very “direct”

Most hill stalkers I know of my generation are using modern rifles, dialling scopes, ballistic programs and modern high bc bullets 👍

I’m tempted by one of these in 300WM but apparently it’s a 7month wait in that calibre as it’s special to order.
My 243 Varmint all up unloaded is 5.4kg after a week on the hill with it on my shoulder for 10 hours a day I knew about it!
