Delivering Knives in the Post - I Always Feel a Little Awkward...

... asking for appropriate age verification ID from new clients, not sure why, I just do!

Then this week in Sheffield we had a school knife attack, a 15 year old lad lost his life, my lad knows Harvey's mates and cousins, my wife's family are good friends with Harvey's family through growing up and living in the same area, drinking in the same pubs and clubs.

Sheffield is indeed a village, without meeting him we knew Harvey and it is terribly, terribly sad.

I can almost see the school from my workshop, Harvey was also big United fan and so there are flowers and condolences gathering outside the ground, I can definitely see the United ground from my workshop, so I had a walk on yesterday for a look and a think.

I am sure it won't make a difference to anything at all me asking my new clients or not, neither they or myself are in the correct demographic shall we say, but if it did, just once, just once ever, I would be over the moon.

I suppose what I am saying is I don't think I will feel awkward any more.

Stuart, it is certainly poignant .

My son, 18 Tuesday, has just had his 1st Uni offer for Sheffield!

If he gets the right grades in his A Level, he will be a 'neighbour' of yours and the kids that go to the that school.

Sobering

A very touching post, Stuart.
I'm sure nobody, certainly not on here, will ever have anything other than respect for you for wanting to do the job properly, just to be sure in your own heart.
:tiphat:

Nor should you mate, I think it’s highly unlikely to have been a custom stalking knife that was used. Kids carry what they can grab out of the kitchen drawer on the way out of the house. Press and politicians blame the inanimate object as it stops them having to deal with the inconvenient truth that our children are being ruined by YouTube, Snapchat, TikTok, etc

The knife issue today is actually a spin off from the drug issue . Its impossible to remove knives as every as every home has them and that's not going to change no matter what MPs say .
If we did somehow remove knives , would they also remove hammers and screwdrivers etc ? Both of these items play heavy in the stats .
Everyone who takes illegal Drugs " recreationally" supports their trade
only a year or two ago a LWB transit on the M6 got pulled for obvious overladen , yet it wasn't bricks /plaster etc ! No it was on its bump stops because it was crammed full of Cocaine! Ffs! That was of course travelled all the way from Columbia a long way from the UK
Get onto the drug issue , whatever it takes .
Start thinking different the weaponry is how the low end of the evil drug gangs and its trade . We cannot stop prisoners in our prisons making shanks , The various social media available is pretty meaningless to public safety - don't allow yourselves to get side tracked!

As already said the youths of today a brainwashed between 24hr TV , YouTube, Facebook the list goes on and on.
Another point of interest is the license to
sell knives.Where l live it costs £475 per year
28day exclusion period) while they decide yes or no.
Yet no license needed to sell domestic knives,
I think that’s shocking after all a knife is a knife.

Buck..
.

Knife seller license....

That's about all I need to know regarding the state of the UK.

Knife laws have nothing to do with public safety.
They are pandering reactions to shut the loudest complainers up.

Tell me I’m a public safety risk carrying any of my knives, edc or not ? simply isn’t the case .

A scummy wee tramp carrying a screwdriver is though
Legislate and enforce laws that prevent said tramp becoming a wee tramp , that might help.
