22lr 1" high @ 25

Drinking my morning coffee, I had a look at some printable targets (whatever happened to looking at pornhub first thing??) and saw these Screenshot_20250225-090400.webp

Now I'm well aware zeroing high benefits etc zero my 204 1.8" high at 100.

But what's the thinking behind 22lr high at 25? Is it just for those who don't have access to a 60yd zeroing area? Cock on at 25 will get you second zero around 50yd I'd think. Anyone zero their 22lr high?

Why ...they are fantastic.
I've been shooting rabbits and hares out to 145 yds.

Pack a punch that's for sure .
Think i was expecting too much of it. Needed a consistent 200-250yd corvid rifle. Was never intended for rabbits (I won't shoot hares) as all my rabbit permissions are small paddocks.

I swapped it for 17 Hornet. That's currently with a gunsmith to recut & thread. If that sorts issue with rifle then it'll fit bill better for my needs. From 1st march I start carrying rifle in gator with me for spring, if hornet not ready by then I'll use 204, that'll do crows at 200yds 😆😆

Zero at 70m with my CZ 452

I know that the first shot out the barrel goes 2.5” high in the winter (not so much in summer)

No such issues with any other .22LR rifle of mine

So I don’t deliberately zero high (why would you?) but the bloody rifle just does it for me

200 - 250 yds is asking a bit too much.

Why only carry the rifle from 1st March , surely there's corvids about in Feb too 👌

The sheep - and therefore the shepherd - are probably indoors in February. Not until the lambs hit the ground and are turned out in March is there any need - or time - to be doing regular outdoor patrols.
(That's the case here anyway, and I think @BenBhoy's routine is likely to be broadly similar).

Not attacking the lambs then. I did lambing in South Uist, bag of vetty stuff on left shoulder .22LR on right. Never hit anything, but it meant the hoodies were more wary

Plenty sheep and lambs outside up here .
