For the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme users (possible cool upgrades)

update: I found a german hunter who seems to be ending his reloading activities, and who is selling his (very) old Rock Chucker 1 (i think) for a very reasonable price. So If i win the bidding, i might be getting a RC after all!
This one has a straight bycycle handle instead of the black ball one though, but otherwise it looks quite similar to the current RCs. Does anyone have experience with this generation of RCs?

Anyways, if i get it, i'm definitely getting some of the upgrades for it, mentioned in here. 👍 Hopefully i can find the primer catching tube system for the RC here in Europe too.

Nothing wrong with a rock chucked press .I’ve used one for years only addition I made is a target master spent primer catcher.

Thanks Buddy :-) And yep, with just a few upgrades the RC can take a few steps upwards in terms of functionability.
is this the primer catching system you mentioned ?: RCBS Primer Catcher
How well does it work, will it keep the primers from bouncing around?

This autopriming kit for the old RCs seem pretty cool too:

Would you be Sven600?

Hello mate, no i would not. I just registered on the vendors site yesterday, to bid, but there is some technical issue, and it wont allow me to bid at the moment. But i am hoping to sort this out this evening, and then bid. 👍 :)

I am not sure we're talking about this same site though, but i'll dm you. 👍

Rock Chucker on the way

I have ordered the automatic primer arm, seen in the video above, already, and i will get the hornaday die quick change system for it as well.
Now this is a vintage rock chucker 1, so i am not really sure how the primer collection system works on it, vs on the current models. However if needed i shall definitely also sort out the primer collection issue.

I am quite looking fwds to start reloading on this oldie now! 🤠

Received this a few days ago, and it's excellent. Easy to fit, fits, & works really well. Wish I'd done it a long time ago !

RCBS Primer Catcher
Hello mate, it does indeed look very nice :) I think it's mainly a solution for the newer RCs though, which for de priming seems to have a slightly different lay out than the RC1 and 2.🤔

To be honest, I had no idea there were numerous versions of the RC. Thanks for pointing it out.
You're welcome buddy :) I think there has been d 4 or 5 different RC models by now, with the 1 and 2 being quite similar with regards to the on press priming system and primer catcher, and the 4 and surpreme (current model) also sharing a good few things here. I am not so sure how the #3 model differed.

I still have the leaflet users manual that came with my new one I bought back in 1993.
That's very kind of you @Bavarianbrit , thank you :)
I might just ask you for a sneak peak of some of those pages in time, should the German gentlemen not have included something similar in the package he's shipping me and I have to adjust or change something:) 👍

Your RC is # 1 or # 2 , Right?

Ps. Which solution are you using for collection of the spent primers btw ? :)

I use a cheap Lee press of much lower quality/price with a universal decapper die permanently fitted to it mounted on a small wooden board that I clamp to my bench when I need it, it keeps the old dirty brass from putting grit inside my decent dies, then they get wet pin tumbled. The Lee press is screwed onto a hollowed out block of multiplex/wood 50mm high so that the primers almost always drop into the slot in the vertical back of the press and get collected in that cavity. For the odd one that wants to fly away I use an old Tetra 1 litre milk pack shortened in height and cut away down the front for the press handle to swing and has a flap from the original height pack folded so that it goes under the mounting board and is held by the clamping to the table. Works very well and cost me 0€.
Every month I unscrew the press from the block to empty the primers that were captured in the cavity.

Nice and kudos for being inventive with the depriming collection system. :)
I can see the point of the two press solution and in being careful not to foul up your dies with grit from the dirty brass (not to self to keep and eye on that!) .
However in am living in a flat in the city and i have to try and find solutions that minimize both my working and storage space..
So in short i shall be sticking to just one press for now.
In this context i too am planning on mounting my press on a board, and then mount the entire board to my work space with c clamps when i want to reload.👍

You can also mount it to a box, then you can store stuff in the box as well and you don't need to clamp it to anything. Non permanent loading bench.

It has arrived. It's a RC 1 i believe, and I think it looks quite lovely. :)
It came with the Hornady lock n load quick change conversion bushings Already installed so now I just need to buy some quick change bushings for the dies, and wait for the on press primer magazine to arrive too, and I'm in business I think 🎯🤙

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice in this thread, and let's keep them coming for the use of all current and future RC users on here. 👍🙂
