Sako 75 or Tikka T3x?

I'm looking to purchase either a Sako 75 or Tikka T3X. What are peoples thoughts on future tweaking or customising? Would one be better than the other? I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Tikka t3x was designed to be modular, for Hunters and competition shooters to build their own platform. This is straight from the guys at riihimäki at the last gunshow i visited. Out of the box they shoot well enough ofcourse.

Sakos come out of the same factory with mostly the same steel barrel etc as their contemporary tikka brothers since the companies merged. however they are designed as a classic premium hunting rifle and not as a build platform perse.

75 was great, arguably one of the greatest. But, they’re old now and spares are hard to come by, I would not be investing in one for a future build personally

Newbie here, but several months of research has spat out that the T3 is probably the best reasonably priced rifle on the market at the minute without paying double what you would for the Tika

As above Sako 75's are fantastic, but not for upgrades, tikka have more options there.

The only real difference is the double stack magazine in the 75, and the fact that all the customisations are for the Tikka. If you want a great off the shelf rifle with a lovely removable double stack box mag, get the 75, if you want anything else get the tikka

As others have already said, the T3 is the one.

And this is from a bloke who absolutely loves his Sako 75, but I’ve been incredibly lucky to find a McMillan stock for mine which transformed it.

The parallel rail on a T3 is far superior to the tapered dovetail on older Sakos.

A T3 in a PSE stock, with a Spuhr one piece hunting mount is a hell of a tool and leaves little to be desired.

I am a big fan of the 75 but i would not recommend buying a rifle that's been discontinued for how long 20 years perhaps? Know what your buying and what you might need to spend on one to get it shooting again . I have been lucky with buying used guns of all brands in most occasions and just a few i have been unlucky with and i have to put a lot of hours and cash in to get the things working.
Got to be said £500 for a used gun gives a lot of wiggle room in the fixing up

If you put a Picatinney rail on a Sako 75 and then use medium rings the scope will be quite high.
For what it’s worth!

The 75 is a class act
Spares are not hard to come by
Put a brittania one piece rail and rings dont need to sit high
They have a double stack flush mag that allows top feed and single feed
They have a bolt delocking feature on the safety
Everything is metal
Stocks are available

The tikka is more customisable I agree
I have one that doesn’t resemble a T3 at all
Two stage Sako trigger, sterk bolt handle, KKC stock, different mag system etc etc

Still a T3

But I also have a 75 semi custom
