Thoughts on Nosler rifles

I spoke to my local gunsmith who is well known for building quality custom rifles and he’s said exactly the same thing. Although it has individual components it’s still a factory built rifle and won’t shoot any better than a tikka. He actually advised a t3x would be a better choice as there’s more options to customise in future
Do tikkas come with shilen match barrels?

There’s one for sale I’ve seen for £1900 and a t3x is about £1600
Well that changes things a lot. You can find brand new t3x lites in the us for $700-800. (Often even less certain times of year.) The cheapest nosler I saw was three times that much. But your situation is different.

I have a 21 in 308. I had the barrel shortened to 18” and it’s an astoundingly accurate rifle. My home loads all go through the same hole at 100yds. It’s also a pleasure to cary and to shoot.

I bought it in preference to a T3x mostly due to the stock which is carbon and a really nice fit for me. It almost makes the rifle feel recoiless.

The box mag took a bit of getting used to but I quite like it now, nothing to lose.

Always wanted a surgeon action with a shilen barrel in a macmillan, and a good trigger, for some target and bad weather work. But it’s cost prohibitive. The 21 seems a good alternative to that sort of Dreamcast and a fair price.

Saying that, I just bought another 7x57, old Parker hale with wood stock. I’m sure I’ll love it even more, and it cost a lot, £250 😂

bedded B&C and you are right up there.
I’d pay three times as much, or more, for the stock than the entire rifle 😂 would be cheaper to replace with another two
Parker hales if the stocks broke or warped, than fit one aftermarket stock, that’s not even a premium aftermarket stock at that (although they’re pretty good I admit)

that’s not even a premium aftermarket stock at that (
are you referencing the B&C stocks?
I can advise that they are indeed imo a premium stock that in my care have had years of fair dinkum bush work with a couple of hard booting crackers (1st 2)
I have them fitted on .358 Norma Mag PH
9.3 x 64 B PH
7mm Rem Mag W a lifetime lol..
I mentioned in another thread that the B&C for a working rifle are as good as any after market synthetic rifle stock.

I know they’re good, had a couple. Not McMillan sturdiness, but still very good. I’d consider them upper middle class to lower upper class in the stock race

I know they’re good, had a couple. Was that you recently saying that you wouldn't have synthetics?

I have a Mac on a 300 WM, its certainly no better imo opinion other than the name, something that some people react too and if they were all painted the one black colour no one would know the farkin difference ha ha.
Btw way im trailer trash lower class...but my huntings not lol.

Yes, I’ve had and have fitted many synthetics, but I don’t really want anymore in my life tbh - just lacking ‘persona’, but call me crazy 🤪 I also don’t run around in an atv in awful winter mountain conditions, oh, wait, I do actually, but only about 5 days a month in the winter, other wise my hunting is more civil

I respect people using synthetics, I’ve got realised the fine traditional materials bring me more joy in life these days.

Having fitted several of each, I’d say the macs are in a slightly different league, but they also have their faults.

but they also have their faults.
The B&C`s dont ha ha.

When you are in the mountains on NZ`s South Island high up frigging about for Tahr and being wet for ten days in a row you then wake up to the fact that sometimes the wood doesn't cut the mustard as cleanly.
**** me its tough going,I lost four toenails that first trip.
Remember the Rem Woodsmasters? We did a weeks wet every day sambar hunt many years ago and the mate couldn't open his Rem as its wooden stock swelled that much..true as.

Mind you John I do love good wood, here`s a pic of my .308 Norma Mag (another PH) stock in American fiddleback maple that my mate carved for me 20 years ago just prior to sending it to me.

That’s a cracker of a stock

Hi what are people’s thoughts/experience with Nosler rifles, specifically the model 21? I’m considering one in a 6.5prc for stalking and they look good for the price. Match barrel, rem 700 clone action, carbon stock and trigger tech trigger.
Only a couple of hundred quid more than a t3x. Worth it or not?
Fantastic value for the price.
Cannot even purchase the components for that price!
Shilen match barrel
McMillan hunters edge stock
Decent trigger
Action.
