Waidmansheil

Hello everybody, as you might be able to guess I am from Germany. Basically the very west tip of Germany close to Düsseldorf.
Which is also where I hunt mostly. We’ve got roe deer and wild boars, foxes, hares and a few ducks - also lots of crows.
I originally thought to just go with one modern rifle and a shot gun. So I purchased a Haenel Jäger 10 with a moderator in .30-06. That rifle is a dream to shoot but aesthetically I much prefer the rifles I afterwards “inherited” a three barrelled Drilling with 7x65R, .22Hornet and 16/70, or the 1939 Mauser in 8x57, and the Mannlicher in 7x64 built in the 1970s.
As for shotguns. The best fit ever was my SkB 500. It’s mostly used for pigeon and crow these days. While a Browning Hunter is used for geese, which can be plenty here. For proper shoots I cast away the over and under and embrace my 120year old Belgien side by side in 12/65.

I am out hunting in various forms at least twice a week and was fortunate enough to experience quite a bit - the absolute highlight was a 14 year old red stag last season not far from Hamburg.
I do both stalking and high seat shooting.

As I studied in Scotland for a bit, and learned to love the country and British culture in general, my family and me try to be in the uk at least once a year. However, I also do trips on my own for long weekends. (Yes you can go from Germany to the Highlands in a day!)

Welcome from Meath, I was at your Jag & Hund in Jan 25, I go every year love it, people very friendly and helpful, looking forward to 26.

Welcome, Düsseldorf to Calais is a do able drive if you ever wanted to do pigeon shooting in East Kent.
Weimannsheil aus mittel von Bayern.

Thanks, Düsseldorf to Calais is really rather a short drive. I would definitely be interested in trying my luck with pigeons. Where in Bavaria are you?

Welcome to the forum. Do you find great differences between German Jäger and UK stalkers?
Well, i`ve only met a few Uk stalkers. Most of the people I know are actually working in country sports in one way or the other. In general I`d say it is just a different culture. Germany is a bit divided between traditionalists and modernists right now. You get people who try to preserve old hunting ways and some who just want to shoot. Lots of people even started to shun trophies and so on. Also hunting is becoming the new golf - with all the disadvantages that brings. But in general I`d say the differences between passionate hunters are not a lot all around the world.

92363 Breitenbrunn. I play with two Jagdhorn blasegruppen but I do not have my own revier, I am a passionate wiederlader though.
