If you can, check the inside of the barrel too...Starting to notice spots of rust on the stainless steel barrel of my tikka t3 I bought new last year, wondered if anyone else has had the same issue and if there’s any product I can use that will get rid of the rust completely?
Depends on the quality.White vinegar works. As per above, more importantly check the condition of the chamber. Unfortunately it seems modern stainless stains a bit more than less.
I work with a lot of stainless equipment for salt water service. Over the years it's very apparent the quality of stainless has deteriorated. Experience of Tikkas over the years has also shown that the materials they use have dwindled in quality. Still, my rifles are all Tikka actions, albeit Cerakoted cromoly actions as opposed to stainless.Depends on the quality.
All SS isn’t equal.

So, are you saying that steel like, say 316 is of a lesser quality now than it was a few years ago?I work with a lot of stainless equipment for salt water service. I guess going back to your post, not all things are equal, it would depend on how demanding you were in sourcing it ? I'm far from an expert, just my limited experience. So, are you saying that steel like, say 316 is of a lesser quality now than it was a few years ago?
